Had a few drips on the driveway... so after wondering what was under the plastic cover, which i didn't know was just clipped on, I found a sneaky leak.

nothing unusual you say..

Upon closer inspection..

so is this just a case of replacing the clips.with new jubilee clips or is it a kmow fault/recommended fix?

Quite common on the VXR8 cut off the clips with wire cutters, they come off very easy, then carefully remove the plastic connectors, you can either replace them with a short bit of copper pipe and new Jubilee clips, best to get small snipe nose pliers and flare out the both ends of the pipes slightly so the hoses have no chance of popping off, not that they would, you can make good the plastic connectors with new O rings and put them back on if you want to.

Also be careful that hose which run along the top of the coils to the heater are not rubbing, quite common to get a small leak where the rub.

Aha! Good to know. Thanks. Re the rubbing, you mean roughly where the white patch is?
Yes they are rubbing there, so what's the easiest fix? A bit more insulative material or sacraficial rubber between them?

Pop down your local motor factors and get a couple of new hose joiners to Mach the originals in size and fit with spring hose clips, never use jubilee clips on plastic pipes as they deform them, you may be able to get brass adapters in the right size ! Secon option is to replace complete heater hoses in one piece with good quality heater hose, this is what I have done !

They tend to rub anywhere along the underside of the hoses that are wrapped, just cable tie an extra layer of rubber underneath, if you pm me your address I will send you all the gear to do the job, including some stainless short tubes and stainless jubilee clips free of charge

Wow, that's a very generous offer. Thank you. I believe in forum karma and have given stuff away in the past, albeit on different forums to this one..
I don't want to see you out of pocket though so am happy to send you some beer tokens for your effort. If not name your charity.
