Has anyone had this before?

Since I bought my cv8 last year I've had the check engine message presenting itself intermittently which turned out to be both banks running lean.
I replaced mad sensor for a second hand one and spark plugs/leads all about a month ago and I didn't see the message again for a few weeks.

Now I only seem to get the check engine message on the odd occasion when I am coming to a stop in traffic etc usually when the engine is warmed up. It clears itself eventually.

I don't have a code reader that will pick this up so before I go hunting round for someone with a compatible code reader does anyone have any ideas?

Where in the country are you? Code readers are really cheap now, so many forum members have them.

Without knowing the code, it could be half a dozen problems, so why spend money on a hunch before you know?

I'm in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
I've already tried and failed with 3 or 4 cheapo code readers that have been recommended by other owners.

Maf sensor was only 25 quid and the spark plugs/ leads were replaced for its recent service.
