VXR8 Peculiar starting issue

It doesn't appear to be permanent but just had an odd starting issue; Parked up to get some cigs from a local corner shop after driving on the motorway, came to start the car again, it cranked and fired but then instantly died and wouldn't even crank until I took the key all the way out and put it back in again.

Anyone else had this?

sounds like a key chip/transponder issue

I did think that, I've had one other incident with the RFA locking up a few months ago, had to pull the fuse out to restart it. That only affected the fob though, I could still use the key to open the door and start the car.

Is the battery in the key running low and have you got a spare key if so try using that for a while
