Just checking fluids on R8 and notice that the coolant needs topping up, the coolant in it already is pink and what I have is blue, is it wise to mix different types or should I top up with same fluid, if so what is it?

Thanks as always.

it should really be the red especially in these engines they sell it in all motor spares places any red will do you can get ready mixed or concentrate if you use the concentrate then it needs to be mixed 50/50 with soft water i:e distilled or demineralised

I believe it is some additives for the modern engines red is of a higher spec than the old blue stuff some of the later engines don't like it the gaskets give out

Antifreeze for older cars do not require the same stuff.
I think you will find cars after 1998 appx, need a OAT antifreeze which contain silicate or something.
Have a search on the net for details is my advice.
The old and new dont mix.

Do not add blue antifreeze to red OAT antifreeze.

it can damage the internal cooling system by using the incorrect antifreeze.

Red is generally OAT but not always. Blue or green are generally silicate based. The colour is only a dye. The two are different and should not be mixed. Our cars need OAT coolant. There's a lot of st out there about coolants.

Best to just buy the correct fluid from VX
