Locked out of vxr8
Discussion
Evening, I locked my vxr8 up on the drive with the remote and now the battery has died I can't get in. Have tried the key in the drivers door but it won't turn to the right so I'm stuck..... not the cars fault it's flat as in 2 years I think she has done 300 miles so probably due a new battery!

Never done it myself but I've heard people say you have to turn the key really hard.
Apparently you'll think the key is going to break but it won't.
Thanks for the advice but I have turned the key to the right until it hits the mechanical stop inside and it still fails to open. At this point you are turning so hard the metal skin of the door begins to bow so definitely no further to go. Any suggestions how to get some power into the car?Apparently you'll think the key is going to break but it won't.
I would persist with my above plus even more wd40, did you try turning it the wrong way first it freed up the Monaro I'm assume r8 is the same , the key must work unless locks have been changed , battery is in the boot I know the monaro was remove the number plate and drill option 2 not saying you can reach up but on my Maloo I have two charging terminals in the engine bay could you reach up from underneath and connect a charger or battery of a 12 volt supply to them or can bonnet be popped I'm not so sure on the bonnet thing though
Forcing the key does work on the older VT-VZ Monaro/Commodore but not sure on the new ones ie VE/VF VXR8.
One post I have read elsewhere says to use the key and the door handle at the same time, others connecting a jumper battery to the starter motor to give the car some power so the key will work. The only other suggestion they have is an auto club, AA/RAC?
The key can only twist about 75 degrees so I would not force it any further.

Note to all, Do the same as me, and connect leads from battery that can be accessed from underside to clip a new battery or charger to. Then if this problem occurs you are sorted, simples.

I think I may have to do this as there aren't any physical locks on mine! Dunno why they bothered with the key part of the fob tbh.Ade

Thanks for the advice guys, as the car is pretty low getting power to it from underneath wasn't a option. Ended up using my break in kit,the inside door handles wouldn't open it but turns out even when deadlocked but the bonnet latch does work. Managed to pull that and get power connected so the key works. All good again, cheers
