Has anyone has issues with the OEM remote control on the Monaro VXR that controls the immobiliser system?

Or does anyone know how to by-pass the original immobiliser circuit?

the immobiliser is embbeded into the cars wiring loom but you can turn the system off via the PCM......

Is it a problem with the alarm or are you fitting a aftermarket alarm?

We are adding an aftermarket Clifford alarm with remote start. When you say PCM - is this the Tech2 brain or a seperate computer for alarm

you will find that it is a bad idea to add an after market alarm to a HSV as it causes lots of problems!!!!! as the HSV unit is very good......

If you must mess with it, it is best to disable it via the Pcm

The PCM (powertrain control moduel)is in control of the "vats" system.

Not sure if Tech2 can effect VATS or if it has details on the HSV alarm

"V8 HSV" did you have your alarm before you had a new PCM?

You need to be very wary of modifying the wiring in the HSV. I have looked in detail at the standard alarm system and I would not try and put another system around it. The system is embedded into every computer in the car and is very secure. Any install that circumvents the HSV ESS is a retrograde step in my opinion. Send me an email if your company wonts my help Iain.

Yes ukhsv, fitted when bought. I had a Clifford install guy look at it once and his reply as he walked away was 'you have got a lot of additional wires'.

I had a very simple Sigma cat1 system fitted on top of the HSV ESS, just to keep the insurers happy. Had the same on previous HSV no probs. to date. Reccomend you keep it simple & fit a good tracker if you are worried about security.

Thanks folks

We are not disabling OEM alarm but just want to by pass the original immobiliser to allow remote start to operate for our customer.

Island boy - I have sent you an e-mail. We have been given a name for a contact at Vauxhall who shall go direct to HSV for us but hoped someone on here could guide us initially.

Thanks again for your help - much appreciated
