This one's for you Rob
Got an email yesterday from a mate in Brisy yesterday and he wrote "as i'm writing this,a guy from up the street is doing burnouts up and down the street, wish I could take a sound recording for you - a 5.0L V8 at about 6000rpm or so leaving lots of big black marks on the road - entertaining".
Fearing it might be the opposition,I emailed him back for details. The reply has just come back. Apparently
it's a Commodore VS in (British racing)green and everytime he goes out, which is three or four times a day,he puts some rubber down.Must cost him a fortune in tyres.Would that be an SV5000 Rob? I've seen them for sale in dark green.
His house (VS man) is always frequented by rev heads often in Skylines etc. What a street to live in !! I'll ask my mate if he can get some pics and info.
Soon be Brocky time mate.

SV5000 was the older VN model. If it was a VS and is an HSV...it could be a Senator,GTS or a Clubsport.
VS GTS came with a 215kw Holden engine
VS Clubsport a 185kw engine
VS Senator could be had with either.

Yes mate, as motomk said the SV5000 was a HSV VN model, that came in SV Racing Green not B/R Green, Strewth mate we couldn't have that.

It could be just a 5.0L VS Dunnydore painted in B/R Green.

Sounds good though mate.

Yes mate, Car build number 42 in Rose Grey, was sent to the UK to be used by Tom Walkinshaw.

Of the 359 HSV VN SV5000's built, there were,
60 Rose Grey
291 SV Racing Green, 31 of these were exported to New Zealand
4 Ruby Red
3 Imperial Blue, 1 off these cars was a special release version of the SV 5000, known as a 1991 version of the SV T30, but still called a SV T30.

There was 1 in Alpine White, which was exported to the Sultan of Brunei.

The front brakes were Heavy duty Corvette ZR-1 twin pot , while the normal heavy duty Commodore finned caliper ventilated front discs were specifically cast to fit the rear.

Details from the HSV book.
