Decided on a vxr8

Hi to all,
Following on from a thread I posted about which car to buy, choices were, XFR/ISF/C63/VXR8, I've decided on the VXR8.
Now my only dilemma is auto or manual. Having never driven either I made an enquiry to a specialist local to me to see if I could drive both a manual and an auto to see which I might prefer.
Unfortunately they don't do in their words "random" test drives unless a deal is being done which sounded a bit odd to me at first but in hindsight I suppose it sorts out idiots going out for a joyride.
At the moment I am actually without a car having sold my previous car quicker than expected and so need one sharpish I just don't want to rush to much without having first experienced both transmissions so I can make an informed decision.
What do you guys who have them make of both the transmission options?

Congratulations, you’ve made a good decision!
If it’s goong to be be your daily, you can do worse than go with the auto. The manual gearbox will take more power if you choose to modify but they are a bit agricultural and the clutch can get tiring in stop start traffic.
If you haven’t yet bought one, talk to James who owns Elite. He’s friendly and I’m sure will provide sound advice.

My VXR8 is auto and I have owned autos for the last 25 years approx. Mine is daily driver but because of my work times I rarely get stuck in traffic.
This is hard for me to say being such a fan of autos, but if I bought another one it would be manual, not sure why just find myself slipping the auto lever into manual mode most of the time on mine.
Each to their own at the end of the day.

This is what I'm afraid of, buying an auto only to miss rowing through the gears myself. I would always choose manual where possible for a car of mine that was to be the toy or pride n joy.
For the daily though, would be happy to consider both.
Consider how an auto also effects the sound of a car, because its not strictly a direct drive you can often hear the slip and over-run is very different. Many autos sound like a train to me. Since a large part of owning a V8 is often down to the sound it might be a deciding factor.
