Pls forgive my obvious lack of knowledge, but could someone fill me in on what these rubber donuts are all about. They have come up quite a bit since I joined and seem like something that needs replacing quite often but no-one has given any clue as to what they are!!

If they are similar to the Omega, the donut bushes go between the body and the rear trailing arms. WHen they have worn the rear suspension will knock when you break traction. A relatively easy job to change though.

the Donut you refer to is in fact the one on the prop shaft.

On the HSV's there is one at the union of the prop to the gearbox, it acts like a UJ but
unlike a UJ it is not as noisy and has a bit more flex to take the shock out of the drive train.

The Monaro has two donuts (one front and one rear).

The life span of the donut depends on how smooth you drive and how many mods you have done to the
power of the car.

Costs are around £150 each...........................

Thanks guys for the enlightenment!! Was curious because the HSV has a knocking sound from the rear end on low speed cornering and wondered if it could be donut related!!

Thanks for the doughnut Brian, got it fitted yesterday and now drives like a new car again. The old one was really, really shot with only 2 out of the 4 bushes still intact!! Hope the new design lasts a little longer
