Marvellous day at Bedford today. Very enjoyable indeed. The VXR aquitted itself very well against some much, much lighter competition and survived my hamfisted treatment with no more than about 2000miles less rubber than it started.
Nice to meet Malcom famialy and his *ahem* "slightly" modified VXR (lovely bit of kit), The chap from Wortec (sorry cant remember your name) and, of course, a pleasure to see Big Nige again..
There are Pix and one vid here:

http://83.104.60.11:5700/bedford

The stuff marked "large" is native size (about 3meg-ish) so if you have a slow net connect you may want to look at the "small" ones (50k or so)

I get a Username & Password prompt going to that URL. This either because you have a .htaccess file in the directory or it's your router. If it's the latter, enabled port forwarding for Port 80 to your destination host and change the port number of your router.

Also had a great day at Bedford.
Paul from Wortec was there looking after the final tweaks to Malcs VXR 6.0 re-map and awesome it did sound.
Cheers to him for fielding my continous dumb questions about this that and everything, a top man.

Here's a very short clip of Malc doing the bizniz
www.bignige.com/VXR_Bedford.MPG

I had some one to ones with Damo and ended up deffo a better track driver for it so cheers mate - here's evidence

and some others

The circuit did seem a bit anal about noise though and it ended up with Malc being black flagged for being too noisy even though we all agreed there were many more cars that made a lot more noise than his.

Poor fellow was furious and rightly so 'cos the circuit seemed to be a bit hypocritical tbh - I'll let him tell the whole story should he wish.

I'd do another in the 'ro though, great fun.

Oh yeah, got 11.2mpg for the day and Monaros are quicker than Porsches (well, some of them anyway... )

Poor Malc

Going back to my scooby days I remember something along the lines of (Jonathan Palmer I think) banning the entire subaru drivers club from Bedford over noise issues, they booked a track day and when they arrived he dropped the DB limit for that day and kicked loads of them off. Some harsh words were spoken and many slanderous bbs threads were deleted but I think its all in the past now, however its not nice to pay a fortune and have your fun curtailed.

Did anyone find out what was wrong with Tony's VXR?
Don't think he's a member here atm.

It was definately making some quite loud clanking noises from the drivetrain - half shaft so Damo thought.

Sounded expensive.

Yes, what a fantastic day. (Am gonna stay away from the noise issue at moment cos blood is still boiling!!!).

Nice to meet some other Monaro owners and feel that we certainly made our presence felt

They certainly seemed to perform better than the size and weight would suggest.

Thanks again to Paul from Wortec for coming along and uploading the finishing touches to the re-map, the car feels fantastic!.

Great pics and video's as well guys, thanks very much for those. Did I miss anything exciting or silly after I'd blown my lid and gone??

Hope to see you all again soon

Cheers

Just spoke to Alex at Brands Hatch who arranged the track day, what a refreshing change after Saturday!!!.

Apologised for the confusion over passengers/guests and is refunding the £75.00. Took on board all my 'issues' about noise and how it was handled. Looks as if getting full refund and a reduced price on a day at Oulton Park, Saturday 11th November. Anyone interested in going along?, its £145.00

Good on ya Malc, Fair play to The guy at brands too. Sounds like a result overall. Lots of sillyness in the last 20mins or so and the lap i got on video by taping me little sonycam to the rearview mirror for the last of my sessions at about 16:30. Dunno if you saw it (it's a bit large at 200meg) but if you dont wanna download I can burn a CD and send it, same for you BN. I know its a pain to download (i tried it at work yesterday and the cybernanny got in a strop.. ) let me know....

Top day though, I'd love to come along on the Oulton Park day but it's Mrs. Ace's Bday AND our anniversary in Novemeber so I'm spending a little on her beloved Astra to cheer her up. Got the wheels sorted now just need to find some Leccy mirrors and body panels...
