As a slight side angle to the global product debate!!!

Will it be the case that the forum accomodates Astra VXR customers before long ??

Afterall, it is now a HSV product in Oz ?

Vectra and Corsa will not be HSV'd. Only Astra.

Sounds fine to me.

The Astra VXR looks like brilliant value for the money.

Doing deals on them Brian?

For sure. VXR looks good. Perhaps a track-going one? that way i can trailer it to the circuit with the Monaro

I thought there was already a VX forum?
Isnt this really the "Holden" forum?
Surely FWD cant soil these hallowed grounds!

IMO, this is an HSV forum, started for owners of cars that were either originally sold via GIV/HSV U.K Ltd or personally imported.
But,the Monaro is obviously a close relation being based on a Commodore, especially the VXR which comes from the HSV factory anyway.
I can't really see the connection between Commodore based cars & fwd Astras, even if HSV sell a version in Aus. They are just so totally different, so there would be none of the compatibility that we all currently share. Such dilution would IMO be a shame.
The forum would simply be divided between the RWD & FWD cars.
Personally I'd rather see a new VXR forum, with sub sections for each model. Or simply an Astra VXR forum, if one doesn't already exist.

Dont HSV do a 4 wheel drive ?

Tut Tut....such discrimination.

Thought a HSV badge was an HSV badge.

Do we start a generic HSV Forum then? Along the lines of other Marques.
Apart from the HSV badge in Aus. (not in the U.K), what has my car got in common with the Astra VXR.
Sure we could have general discussions, but I use P/H for that anyway.
If the cars had some common link, maybe, but for me the badge alone is not enough common ground.
Much the same as an owner of a MK1 Land Rover hasn't got much in common with a Freelander owner. Samebadge though.
Somewhat cynically maybe, I can see the advantages of including the Astra for those whose business involves catering for the needs of VXR badged cars.
This is of course just my opinion, as the question was asked.
Where does it end, do we become a General Motors forum ? After all they own all the brands we are talking about.

Maybe we should call it forum with no sense of humour, until the silly threads that have peppered the place over last couple days have disappeared into the ether.

Tongue in cheek my friend, tongue in cheek!!!!!

Maybe I misunderstood the thread, if so I apologise. I thought it was a serious question & that a couple of other contributors thought it was a good idea to include the Astra VXR.
A week of paperwork does my head & sense of humour in!

Not unreasonable I guess too ask if VXR (now an HSV down under) should or should not be included in the future.

The issue for some is that this forum was for owners of HSV Commodores/Utes/Maloos and more recently Monaros in their various forms, I guess as they are underneath the same car (no hub bub about HSV DNA being genuine engineering changes 'V' Holden - I know and I wish)BUT the ownership experience, mods etc. are uniform.

By including a wider range of cars that are not mechanically the same or similar will it dilute and detract what people want from this forum?

Open question....

Historically it has been metal coming up from down under now it has gone the other way with reverse badge adoption (my B"&&Sh&&t).

Personally the advice and help I got from this forum helped my decision on what Monaro to buy and how to get the most from it with my financial limits and continue to learn from others experience.

Not sure how an explosion of threads on Astra's will help(appreciating it looks a smart piece of kit in that market segment).

Be interesting to see how it manifests itself downunder..probably an extension of LS1 and Holden forums.

I doubt holdenls1.com and ls1.com.au would let any of the vauxhall FWD's near.
Im happy that anyone with an HSV Astra can post in here as long as nobody with a Vauxhall VXR posts here
Just kidding.... maybe

OK OK OK OK OK OK

I posted the thread as a tongue in cheek comment, to lift the mood from certain other threads.

I fully understand why the forum exists and truly dont expect Astra owners to pipe up!!!

Just sticking my worthless opinion in here but wouldn't letting HSV/Vaux VXR owners in here be a good idea? Kinda like a baby HSV then once they know a few ppl & see the grown up version they will be converted or it could be a good excuse for his n hers HSV's in the garage

Got my Astra VXR/HSV yesterday and played with it last night. Very very impressive!!! Really pleasantly surprised. Great lift off over steer, responsive, great brakes, and damn near as quick as a std 04 cv8!!

Decent sounding and performancing exhaust on the way Thurs. I know its not a real HSV but it doesnt embarass the brand values, it will do really well in Oz.

IMHO
