Anyone got a remote starter fitted to their car?

Gimmicky I know but would be nice to start & warm the car up on icy mornings before I even need to go outside.

How does it work with the std immob fitted to the car?

cheers

Ages ago, I knew a Merc. owner who had this as an option on an all singing Clifford alarm.
I was told it wasn't reccomended for manuals, but can't remeber if it actually couldn't be installed on a manual or not. Obviously you wouldn't want to be leaving your car in gear!!!
Anyway the alarm was so complicated, it kept going wrong all the time & just pi***d him & everyone within a 2 mile radius off.
Must admit though, the Saab's heated seats have been nice during the recent cold spell!

I have it via Clifford Concept 600 alarm, certainly frightens to death those standing near by when you start it, it start but remains locked.

It will not operate if you leave it in gear, you have to program the key fob, remove the key with the engine running, lock the car & then the engine cuts off. Then one button to start her up locked.

Im sure private property doesnt count, but I'm pretty sure its illegal to leave a car running with no-one inside. Not sure if this matters whether the car is locked or not

On the public highway, it is an offence. 20 odd years ago I got a lecture from Plod for leaving my car running whilst I was talking to someone on the other side of the street. Fair enough, but I think you'd be fine if the car was parked on private property.
