I know some of us (inc yours truly) have imported cars to the UK from Oz but has anyone done the reverse? What are the personal import rules for Oz for those who emmigrate or return there after some time in the UK? What tests (if any) have to be done to register the car (RHD assumed)and how long must you own a car b4 being able to ship it into Oz duty free, if possible at all?
there are some pdf's on the Aus Customs site. www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4226
No matter what the costs and taxes I am sure there is profit to be made on a used Lotus Elise
7K here and they sell for $30 + in Aus
Checkout www.drive.com.au/
There are used car prices and a good article on the Monaro runout
but you wont make any money selling coal to Newcastle
best to leave the GTS Coupe here for the club members to borrow.

Oh yeah.. don't worry, Coupe goes up for sale in March.. I was thinking along the lines of a Lotus or Noble for exactly the reasons you point out. Still got 2 years to go here but want to be aware of the lead times required. cheers for the links
Julian, my Noble DID get you thinking then! Log on to www.noblecars.com and send a mail to Simon Hucknall, a very helpful and informative guy. There are Nobles in South Africa, U.S.A. and Spain to name but a few. just make sure you fit a FP intercooler upgrade because those twin turbos DO NOT like hot air, resulting in a big power loss.
See you at the Ace, will be there in AGH's car.
