Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum, having only recently bought a 2004 Monaro V8.

I'm loving it, all except the brakes which do not fill me with much confidence given how bloody fast the car is (it's had treatment by LSV and Wortec).

I see on the banners that LSV have an AP brake system available - anybody had this done? If so, what was the benefit? Or has anybody had good results with a different aftermarket set-up?

Cheers all, and happy motoring!

Hi and welcome.

I don't have the APs but have been in cars that do. They are absolutely awesome and at the current proces from LSV, Wortec etc fine value compared to what they used to be.

I Have an 04 CV8 that is a tad quicker than standard. I chnaged my brakes with in a couple of weeks got a set from an HSV much better and up to the job but still not as good as APs. Stand on those at any speed and you will be peeling your brain from the front of your skull. More significantly you can do time after tiem and not suffer fade...

Ask around they are a friendly and helpful bunch on here and plenty of people have trodden the path you are now on so you get good advice.

Wortec have a UK specific AP racing brake upgrade available. The system was developed along the lines of the HSV premium brake upgrade, but was tweeked to suit the UK specific market and tested accordingly on track and on road.

The system is exceptionally good, both on road and track and is the largest system available that will fit an 18" wheel. I notice you are in London, we have our demo in Kent that you could come and try, or if you heading to the ACE Cafe on Sunday 22nd there will be lots of customers with that kit on their cars.

The system is totally AP approved and is the only official AP kit available in the UK, and as such are fully warranty'd.

I concur with caspy...

I have an '05 VXR with Standard brakes but test drove his recently and they certainly have a much more confident feel to them.

They are next on my list.

Thanks for the quick replies, that's real food for thought. Can't make the Ace cafe on the 22nd but will look out for similar events in future.

Incidentally, my car was the one formerly owned by Mike Collinson, who I see used to post on here when he had it.

I'm really intrigued by the now presumably deleted post about what he got up to in it before he sold it! All's fair in love and war and I don't intend to treat it gently myself, so anybody care to shed any light...??!!

Cheers.

Aha - found it! Took it up to 160mph and filmed the evidence - good boy!

I'm waiting for an Autobahn trip later in the year to do just the same!!

I think you might find the filmed evidence somewhere on the MIG site. Awesome machine.

It is indeed an awesome machine, he replied somewhat smugly!

What's MIG by the way?

MIG web is where the modified Chavaliers, Astras, Novas and the odd Calibra hang out. Huge Vauxhall contingent there. Mostly good, but some very bad..

Monaros are conspicuous by their absence

Anyhow, the film I'm sure everyone would like to see has been found (Very, very impressive by the way - stunning noise)A good advertisment for what good modifications can do.

Whilst you're on there, you may as well do a Search using 'monaro' and take a look at some of the positive and negative points posted on our beloved beasts. Here's a thread with a special guest appearance by someone from here, nice shiny black VXR...

Enjoy...

I have got the Wortec/AP brakes fitted, and I can report that they are awesome. Greens did a super job on the fitting, thanks again Brian. It has totally transformed the car and given me so much confidence in all conditions(mine is a daily driver). Another note is that my car is heavier than a monaro so the results on yours should be even better.
