I'm considering ditching the standard Blaupunkt stereo for a more up to date system ie DAB, MP3 discs, more flexible recordable CD playability and DVD for the offspring when stuck with me in TESCO's car park whilst wifey hunts and gathers food for us.

Anyway, the system I've seen is one of the Kenwood systems similar to this one:

DAB interface is an added option.

I got the idea from the american GTO site and it actually looks quite good even in the brightly coloured yellow car interior it sits in! (You'll need to scroll down the page a bit)

What I'd like your advice on is the 'PAC Steering wheel interface'. I'm assuming that this would be an adapter to still the allow the steering wheel controls to still be used with the stereo or am I getting it wrong? If it is an adapter, is it stereo specific or can it be a universal one bought from a car hi-fi fitter? I would ask some of these retailers, but I keep getting replies regarding the Vauxhall Movano Van!!

I would be quite happy to not bother and just keep on listening to the exhaust soundtrack but my wife and kids are getting a bit weary of my childish wim on very long journeys!

Thanks

Paul

Wicked installs on the link!

I have a Kenwood KVT-920 DVD/7" tilting monitor combined with their KSC-900 CTR active centre speaker which both fill the double DIN spasce nicely

That's a nice Kenwood system that is, not badly priced either.

Thanks Dave,

Did you order your PAC interface from that company and install it yourself? Just wondering how easy it will be to do on a DIY basis. Not too sure if my local stereo fitters will stock a PAC interface or are they specific to the american market?

BigNige, that was just a sample one. They also do the same type of screen but with built in sat-nav. That one costs about £1300.00!

This is Kenwoods current range:

And a few others, some pricey but pretty much a nice touch in the Monaro:

Most of the other double DIN stereos seem to be in a silver finish with would look out of place in the black dash. Anybody else have different stereo set-ups? Looking for suggestions before I part with hard earned cash.

Thanks
