NU want a fortune for my renewal.
Any ideas on an insurance company who also don't mind a few light mods?

Underwritten by Direct Line I think.
Churchill are also part of the RBS group and in fact use the same computer systems as DL so worth a look with them too.

I'm 26 with 3 years no claims and Admiral (same company more or less as Elephant) quoted me about £850 for a 2005 Monaro 5.7 parked on the street in a good area doing 10k miles per annum. That's a lot compared to some of the "old farts" :P but good for me and no more than something like a Focus ST or Astra VXR.
If/When I take the plunge and buy a Monaro then I'll probably phone around some specialists aswell and see if they can better that.

Adrian Flux, around £1200 but that's with ZERO NCD (it's on the Alpina). They initially wanted Cat 1 but following advice from another thread I gave them the specs of the ESS and they were happy with that.

I'm with Churchill, oldish f@rt (41) with a 54 plate Monaro 5.7 (Not the vxr) paying about £900 with protected NCD, only mod I have is LPG, funny I was with N-U charging me £850 until I had the LPG mod, then they wanted to charge me £1400!!

The Green Fuel Company did it, and why? £0.42 a litre as opposed to £0.88 a litre is why.
She runs on both LPG and Petrol so best of both worlds

How much did the conversion cost? I'm interested in the idea of LPGing a Monaro, would make the consumption a little less painful!

It cost £2,500, I guess you can find it a little cheaper if you look around, but I wanted the peace of mind of a main distributor. It'll take me 18 months to get my £2,500 back, then I'm in the black from there on.

Yeah but you also need to suffer a little power loss...
Plus lose the spare wheel, plus more weight, plus hack the engine and dash to fit etc..
Might be good for long term though...

I haven't noticed any power loss, mind you I haven't put her up on rollers yet, so maybe it'll show there. Weight increase, well I'm swapping petrol for LPG, the tank doesn't weight much and the car isn't exactly light anyway lol. Hacking the engine, well thats sort of true, they do have to fit injectors. Nothing very noticable under the bonnet though. On the whole I'm pleased with it. Very pleased with the fuel bills though. Also if I fill up both LPG and petrol I can do me Guildford to Glasgow trip non stop

I thought it was a warranty killer as GM specifically recommend against it due to the plastics in the induction.

I spoke with Vauxhall before I did the conversion, they said it wouldn't affect the manufacturers warranty or the networkQ warranty. Only thing they wouldn't cover was damage caused by the conversion, so I've got that covered by the converter (greenfuel.co.uk).
