I can guarantee you if I took your black VXR to Aus tomorrow it would be less powerful and its got nothing to do with Kw/BHP/Psi/Nm conversions

A possum would make it's home underneath the accelerator pedal thus reducing it's travel?

Reliability, perhaps?

Australia has a long history of fitting large, unstressed engines in cars. You don't want to break down in the Outback, 100's of miles from another soul.

Air density is more here due to lower temps on average year round.
So you get more o2 in the combustion chamber to burn fuel with

0-60 is 96kmph? not 100?

Plus the extra power should help a little too?

Not sure otherwise.

Because our speed limits are higher

All of those, plus over here we don't have highway patrol officers with V8 commodores and handguns every couple of kilometers. Or speed camera planes, or speed cameras in wheely bins, or 3 KPH (thats 2MPH) fixed camera speed tolerances

I thought it was the other way round as well. I hear of plenty of rv8's in oz making more then 500 hp and I don't believe it maybe they have faster rollers in the rolling road

I havent heard of that many quick cars from here, although a few are starting to pop up.
I also havent heard of too many high powered cars on these shores either, whereas I know of quite a few very high powered cars from down under.

I would be baffled as to why anyone would think UK cars are faster or more powerful. I havent seen one shred of evidence to back that up.

Wholeheartedly agree with you on this post BoostedLS1.Every area I explored and fitted and tuned the comparison in Oz was always greater.
Used Dyno Dynamics as well to try and equalise the equasion.Oh shut up ,I dont even own a Holden now.

Although trying to compare numbers between UK and further afield, when most US and Aus figures are in RWHP, which the DynoDynamics was built to measure, and UK operators try and use flywheel estimates instead.

DD doesnt make an attempt to measure losses as far as I am aware. It just uses a simple estimation for drivetrain losses. So it almost makes flywheel figures pointless.

I've had companies from Oz (for ls1 and Rover) telling me of their achievements yet similar dyno engines here are often 50 bhp adrift. I see US companies mentioned in magazines getting 50 hp more then GM from stock engines and then they tune them. They will always be 50 hp ahead of the average guy. It's a load of bull a lot of the time imo.

Makes mental note to self ... when moving to oz remove all bbq gear, beach gear, tinnies, eskys, stubby coolers etc from car or i will seriuously lose power & have every F**d & Jap car passing me!
