More problems , nothing new I suppose
Discussion
Not having much luck with my HSV of late, few teething problems with the new engine install but that was only HT leads that needed replacement. Since then it had to go back to LSV as the primary fuel pump failed (the one in the tank itself) and on the way home from fixing the pump the alternator went doodle alley, so AA recovery to home to find that the alternator was charging at 36 volts and blowing relays, so basically when it cut out at three figure speed it was the alternator that cut off both fuel pumps by blowing relays.
This might explain Mrs V8 HSV post about the smart passing me on the A34, did any of you really think I would allow myself to be overtaken by a women in one of my smarts (I’ll get it in the neck for this no doubt).
Great service by LSV & Mark driving down the following morning to remedy but sadly transport by recovery vehicle required back to LSV.
Never heard of an alternator doing this before, my experiences to date just mean it does not work & drains the battery, not trying to overcharge the battery, apparently it had the battery ‘bulging’, good job that did not explode!
Obviously this is the norm I suppose on any car when you start replacing items, the existing parts seem to expire when the new ones are fitted, well the car is pat 60,000 miles.
Thought I would post this up for those HSV high milers and to point out that LSV are in no way responsible, just an ageing car, still live in the hope that the car will revert to a reliable car again, one day.

Look on the bright side Will, you car still has a roof on it!
Sorry to hear of further problems though. I reckon you hit the nail on the head about the new parts, the car is 5/6 years old with 60k. The odd part was failing on my HSV before it's demise, namely window motor, storage bin lid & dashlight bulbs. Speedo converter was due for replacement as well. One of the reasons I decided against buying another 4dr, was the age issue. The standard Chevy engine seems unburstable, but the quality/longevity of some parts/interior bits is questionable.
Having said that, both my HSV's were virtually trouble free & incredibly cheap to service & maintain. Incredible for the performance they gave.
Hope all gets sorted ASAP.
