Has anyone on here tried the Dastek Unichip on their Monaro? What sort of performance increase did you see? I see there are a few mentions of people using it on the ls1gto forums in the States but they all seem to be combined with turbos and dont mention what sort of performance improvement the Unichip offers. The only info I've found so far is that it requires a custom hardwired fitting. Looking into it as an option because Dastek are within easy commute and are dealers for Milltek exhausts and APS brakes.
If this is the same that is available in Oz, You don't need to go down this path. Normally it is when people with Turbo's or other very high performance cars need live tuning. The edit/HPtuners software that adjusts the PCM in your car has a million times more adjustability than the piggyback type computer which just tricks the PCM. Piggyback chips are also unable to adjust the torque reduction and other defenses in the PCM. It is used when live tuning is required, however I believe the editor type software is starting to become available with live tuning anyway.

mental - maybe but when your nearest "tuner" is 5hrs drive away then an option that is available less than 40mins away is worth asking about. Its not exactly convenient to nip back to have the tune tweaked to iron out any issues you notice when you've had it for a week or two - not forgetting the £150 worth of fuel needed for each trip and more than likely an overnight in a hotel and two days holiday from work. Now its not LSV, Wortec, WRC etc fault where they are in relation to me or that its damn near impossible for me to get 2 days off outwith my annual leave. I just wanted to know if anyone has had a Unichip install and if so what they thought of it. I was sure the guys at Dastek had said there was a dealer down south - WRC maybe(?) had done a few Monaros with the Unichip. BTW I'm not having a go here - just wanted to justify my thinking and I appreciate the replies to my post.
I understand your problem, and cant really help with regards to Unichip fitment.
But as I said, when there is software available to do pretty much anything needed with the ecu, I cant see very many people, if any using something like the Unichip with the LS1.
What would be the point ?
If you have a decent and competent tuner near you, it might be a better option for you to buy something like EFILive, and then take it to your tuner, who can then re-map your car on the rollers using that software.
The Unichip must be mapped on a rolling road anyway, so I assume you have such a facility near you at the Unichip dealer ??
It also means that you have it for any future upgrades too.

oh was that the black one from Glasgow? Both myself and Dave52 have tried on numerous occasions to get hold of the guy online and see if he fancies a meet but so far he's ignored all our attempts to contact him. Or did Jeff get you to collect his blue one from the airport while he was off in Greece? I've signed up for the July 30th meet at Donington. Will see if I cant get myself booked in the day before for some work, now I just need to work on the missus :-)

May also be an option worth considering - must check out the licence, if its not limited to use on one car perhaps I could persuade a couple of the guys up here to club together and buy the kit so we've got our own "local" tuning service. If its restricted to use on one car well it might still be worthwhile - especially with guys like ringram creating setups for use with it.

Loads of info on the efilive website forum.
It comes with licenses for 2 vehicles if that helps.
Take a look here for stock tunes you can look and play with www.holdencrazy.com the efilive software is a free download from the efilive website too.
Just dl the software, install and open the tunes. It will let you see what you can do, change etc. You will just need the hardware to make changes to your current setup.
If you want any more info flick me a PM.
