Following a very successful VXR owners meet at Brands Hatch we once again have the backing and support of Vauxhall Motorsport for the 2nd BTCC VXR meet to take place at Donington Park on the 30th July 06.
We would like to start this early to enable us to get numbers and obtain infield parking once again for all VXR varients (Astra, Monaro, Vectra, VXR220, Zafira and the little Meriva ) so if your interested please put your name on the list, times, convoys and meeting points will be made available closer to the time.
thanks
Shane
This was such a great turn out, lets see if we can get more Monaros (VXR & CV8) - put your name down
EDIT: ALL HSV MARQUES WELCOME

The very first question I asked of Aussie was "Can all HSVs be included"... and the reply is as above.
Sorry...I dont make the rules, I just bend/break them..
I will make further represenations on behalf of the HSV contingent

Chris, you are a lovely fella & nothing was aimed at you personally. Difficult to take a stance here as so many friends are VXR owners but have been thinking for a long time there is a need for an HSV forum as this one really only concentrates on the VXR Monaro and Monaro with all the after market products ONLY aimed at the VXR Monaro/Monaro.
Sour grapes maybe but as there is only a relative handful of HSV owners (50 ish) their is a need for reference point for the 4-door cars, especially now as the fleet is ageing. Not really wanting to form any more clubs or a break away from here, just a valid point of view IMHO.

Fully understand what you are saying Will and the opinion is more than valid. Regarding the forum use,I've thought for a while about the format of HSV.org.uk, and while it is a great place for information sharing for HSV/VXR/Monaro etc, I'd be intersted to hear what other people's views are on the format.
Would it be time to maybe think about a differnt format of message board, so that while everyone can use the same board, the cars are split into different headings. In doing so, owners can contribute to their own car and share info with other owners, but can also contribute to the wider "fleet" for interst and info sharing. Then there can be headings and topic areas or Meets, track days etc etc. Its sometimes difficult to have everything under one roof without being able to segregate topics.
Just a thought.......fight amongst yaselves!

Excellent reply mose, it would need to be hosted on another portal as I do not belive PH can split things up like you suggest, I do not want to detract from ukhsv's sterling work in bringing it all together in the first place, it is his baby after all and I can only hope that he can find a solution to this dilema before the original crew just fade away. I am forming my own club (CNUTS) but that is just for social gatherings without any forum posts or specif car required, in facts owning a car is not obligatory.
Good comments Mose - Take a look at ls1gto (if you have not already) that is what they do and it makes finding specific information much easier. Good idea IMO.
Can also see V8HSV's point of view as well. Having started something I guess it must seem like it has been effectively 'taken over'.
That is why the idea proposed by Mose is good. It enables everyone to be part of the same 'club' for whioch there are many common elements but with specialist interest areas where they are needed/appropriate.
The growth in Holden based products has clearly increased the number of after market suppliers from which I am guessing pretty much everyone has/will benefit at some point.

From a reference point of view, splitting the forum would seem sensible. If you own or are contemplating owning a 4dr HSV, then being able to search for info. specific would surely be helpful. Same applies of course for the Monaro variants. The LS1 forum is indeed a good example of a forum that caters for different cars but with shared components and I for one have found it very helpful when searching for VT or VX specific queries.
Appreciate that as I no longer actually own an HSV my opinions are my own! Just can't get the HSV bug out of my veins.

As this forum is well routed and ukhsv's brainchild, I didnt want to open up a massive can of worms to suggest that this particular forum breaks away from PH, leaving current members scatterd about the place, but more to create something new alongside of this forum so that all members can enjoy the format suggested.
I think it is fair comment that in recent times and certainly since the arrival of the Monaro VXR, the forum has got immensely diverse with members dipping in and out of other peoples threads and at times other members not being able to contribute to anything that doesnt concern them.....which can be frustrating!
So by suggesting the variance in format, more than likely with a new messageboard all members can enjoy the same space albeit in the areas of the board that draw their immediate interests. How something like this is engineered is beyond me, I just post on them
I suppose an intersting debate could be, with Paul's permission, to maybe use the current HSV.org.uk as a UK CAR OWNERS forum and all things concerning the owners club?? I dont know.......I'm just throwing out ideas!
I quite like the sound of that Mose however we would have to be careful not to set up an 'us and them' type thing. I certainly wouldn't do anything until ukhsv has commented/given his approval as he has put a lot of hard work into this forum and we should respect that. I've actually been saying for a quite a while that maybe with all the new members it might be worth going with an ls1gto style format but I think we should listen to everyones opinions and evaluate the pros and cons. We also need someone to actually go and create the website using the software and that will cost a bit of money as you need a reliable server as well etc. etc.
Exactly......the whole idea of the suggestion is to steer well clear from creating an "US and Them" situation, and the suggestion was in no way aimed at criticising Paul's hard work in providing us all with this space in the first place. Far from it. I think he does a great job in managing the space for us.
It was meant to stir some thoughts and ideas about how it cant be expanded to create a space like ls1gto and ls1.com so that all possible areas of HSV ownership can be convered.
I agree completely with what you say about the sudden amazing growth in membership...and of course the diversity in cars, intersts, issues etc etc that go with it.

With 800 Monaro's and 50 HSV's, are there enough owners to justify the need to split a community ?
Personally i think the forum is the ideal platform, not too complex, well presented, easy to navigate etc etc.
The Vauxhall VXR forums replicate the meets etc and give you all the seperation that you are asking for.
Personally again, i dont think that there should be 'VXR' 'HSV' seperation at the Donnington meet, the more the merrier. And with only 50 cars nationwide, is it going to make such a huge difference ?
I would ask that Vauxhall decide, no one else.
Stu ??
