Camera site con exposed
Speed cameras have been put up where they will make most cash instead of where accident rates are highest – an MCN (Motorcycle News) investigation has exposed.
We have proof that safety camera partnerships have flouted official guidelines on where speed traps can be placed.
Rules have been bent using a variety of tactics. In once case a minor accident on a cycle path was used to justify a camera’s position on a nearby main road!

What a shock !! It's about time that someone got to the bottom of this one. I live in Macclesfield, at one end of the Cat & Fiddle Pass, officially rated as the most dangerous road in England.
Total number of "safety" cameras = Zero. Zip. Not a Trace of one.
The police mount mobile campaigns from time to time, but nothing fixed.
Yet the A523 to Leek and Ashbourne (not even registering on the most dangerous road survey as far as I'm aware) has soooo many cameras I can't even count them. And I should know - I'm an accountant. Puzzles me

I know that A523 (& the Snake Pass too) 'cos I used to live in Stockport. The A523 had, at one time, 17 speed camera in 12 miles of road. I used to use it as a short cut to the A50 & A38 at Burton! I often wondered how many they actually 'caught' in one month!
