At what stage of HP increase do you need to start thinking about a heavier clutch? I read on the LS1GTO forums that all sorts of issues regarding drivetrain start to crop up when Supercharging/tuning etc.

They certainly do,above 500 you need to address to an uprated pressure plate, clutch disc, hose, master cylinder, and a good rethink on the slave cylinder!!Otherwise you will experience at max: revs and an upchange going nowhere,ie stuck with no gear until revs drop.

Don't know about HSV specifically, but usually the limiting factor on transmission is torque rather than power.

T56 is a strong box....

There are a variety of clutches available, I'm using the Textralia.

Light pedal, and surprisingly nice to drive for a paddle clutch.

I have a SPEC (USA) clutch and lightweight flywheel in my GTS R spec. OE slipped at 450 ft lbs. It holds over 750 ft lbs with no dramas except a progressively noisier thrust bearing currently and not too heavy. I always ensure it is fully engaged before using any serious power.

Quite a few blokes in the US are running the LS7 clutches which are rated for over 500bhp, though not by much.
Its a nice step up with stock feel for those needing a little more before hitting the third party products.
