Following some excellent advice and posts from this site I have taken collection of my 2004 Monaro CV8 in Quicksilver (pics below).

Already I know I have made the right decision, the car is very easy to drive smoothly in town and cruising on the motorway, and when you need to, the loud pedal propels the car effortlessly.

Over time I'm sure I'll get more advice and make some mods here and there, but for now it seems like a very good all round practical car, and good fun to drive.

I have had my Nokia Bluetooth system installed, and also my Alpine DVD SatNav. For now I have it on a quick release arm on the dash. I spoke to someone at In Car Centre in Wembley today and they said they can install the screen on an arm which can fold back into the centre space at the top of the dash, and create a replacement "lid" which can hide the screen easily.

If they do it properly it would be much easier, and would look better, need to check if £250 is a reasonable sum for it, seems a bit pricey to me.

Anyway, the suns out, I'm off to rev that V8!

Welcome. Nice to see you have already had one of the best and cheapest mods re-badging. Just need to save up for the sports pac it is well worth the money.

Regarding the re-badging, & just like this one, the only one left to do on mine in the centre of the steering wheel - any ideas where I can get one from?

Nice motor! Welcome to the forum. I agree with your comments on the 'drive-ability' of the Monaro...easy-going until needed, then it's magic!

Cheers.

Paul. I have not done the airbag or the door sill myself, but I got a quote of £168 + shipping from geoff@jhp.com.au .If you have a source for the sills closer with a reasonable price I would be intrested.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but it was my wife that pointed out that the badges weren't Vauxhall, I didn't even notice

Was this an option at manufacture at all, as the Vauxhall text on the rear left hand side looks like it was never there (or just maybe properly removed)?

as someone once said - does it make it go any faster?

Oh and welcome to the new guy - just in time for the new superchargers from LSV becoming available to make your purchase even more fun. Pity its only silver - black is so much faster Nice looking car though all the same.

No someone with taste spent money to get it that way inc removing the VAUXHALL badge from the rear, personally I removed the MONARO badge also, as anybody that counts knows what it is anyway.

Barking - mine were already done by 'booster' who had the car before me so can't help, yet, with any info on sourcing. However, I'll contact 'booster' & ask the question!

Hello Marlvargs

Welcome to the group, you will enjoy your time here

barking, I changed all my badges over, I bought the Holden badges for the outside from someone on here over a year ago before I bought the car, I got the airbag one from a Guy on the Oz forum www.ls1.com.au/ as he was changing his to the GTO badge & I bought the side sills from motomk who posts on here & the Oz forum for a good price . Lastly I bought the engine covers from Brian (Caspy).

I fell the badge thing is each to their own, I like the idea of mine being badged a Holden as that is its roots but sadly the only thing I can't change is the Tax disc

Paul @ Wortec got mine for me. I didn't get round to the airbag and sills as the price at that time was too prohibitive. £168.00 + shipping sounds quite good from what I can remember though. IIRC you have to replace the whole airbag - you can't just pick off the badge. So fitting it will have to be done by properly by an authorised dealer I would expect.

Oh, and well done on the new car. You lucky biatch!! Paul I want mine back NOW!!

And the annoying VAUXHALL that appears on the display. Unless someone has found a way around it.

It's exactly the same as mine - a Silver '04 CV8 with Holden Badges! IMO the original Monaro CV8 has to be one of the best looking coupes ever made. It looks perfect from all angles with no unnecessary add ons. I've never really liked the different front end and skirts and spoilers on the VXRs. There are loads of tuning options available, to bring it up to VXR performance if you choose. Only problem with the 04 CV8 is the brakes - they are not really able to cope with the performance of the car and will fade easily - be careful.

Enjoy your new car!

You don't need to replace the whole airbag just the cover, but you do have to remove it. Getting the whole aibag is prohibitively expensive as it's an explosive material. Got my cover from Geoff at JHP. Fitting it was one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done.

You can get your gauge cluster reprogrammed to replace the VAUXHALL logo, but so far I've found this can only be done in Australia or the States. I've got a spare GTO cluster in the garage just in case.

It's funny how these things run away with you. I can remember commenting that changing the badges was pointless and no-one would ever notice, but I've been converted to the point of considering gauge cluster reprogramming. I hope the missus never finds the receipts.

If you haven't already seen it - look at the gauges here.
