I've seen a few cars around with these swing up doors (VXR Astra at Brands for one) and was wondering if these are hard to facilitate? What's needed for the conversion? Any ideas????

I reckon a Monaro with swing up doors would look awesome!

Do a Google search for Lambo Style Doors - The company's called LSD, but I wouldn't search for that!!

particularly if coupled with some chromaflair paint, underbody neons and an ironing board rear spoiler.

That's going a bit far.....

I'm all for keeping the outside look the same and just having mods that are noticable when you want them to be.

I reckon a polished aluminium body would be cool and put the engine in the boot!

The good thing is (apparently) is that you can open them outwards enough to get out without lifting them up so you only have to 'show your hand' when you want to.

I don't think I'd have the balls to do it to my VXR, but it definitely would be unique in the country.

I could vaguely understand your desire if you had limited space in the garage and these would help, but 'show your hand' do you mean when you pull up at Mc Donalds and want to wow the Nova crowd?

It's weird, I love scissor doors, but only when they're on a car as standard. Add them to any other car and it's just a bit naff. I've even seen a Gallado with aftermarket scissor doors, and even that looked wrong.

Just my opinion.

Hello,

Lambo doors seem to suit certain cars and then only in certain colours. The Hyundai coupe seems to take it quite nicely, I considered it on my v6 until I looked at the installation procedure. I have a couple of Hyundai friends with them and they would never do it again - it is also easy to damage cars with the bottom of the doors (like someone did last year at a show, accidently closed it on the car next to it).

Personally, I don't think the GTO looks too good with them, maybe its the picture with the very heavy tint on the glass or colour. Just does not look right. As the Monaro doors are so heavy the strut would have to be massive and then you have the agro of taking the wings off etc.

But each to there own I guess, if you like it do it.

Thanks
Steven
