Engine Check light
Discussion
Not sure whether I should worry or not, but last weekend I filled up with petrol then when I pulled out of the garage the Engine Check light came on
It beeped about 3 times then went out. I never really thought any more about it. During the week I have never seen any hint of the light coming on. Today, went and filled up with petrol (first time since last weekend) and again when I pulled out the light came on again. Both times it reset itself without even switching the engine off and then on again.
Is this something I should worry about?

I have seen a similar problem occur on LS1 Corvette. There are 2 possibilities I have seen. If you leave the cap loose, it can cause evaporative emissions, so a DTC is set. Also, if you fill the tank too full, it can confuse the evap purge canister and a DTC will be set in the PCM. both will put on the MIL, until the problem goes away. Scan the PCM and check for historic P codes, clear them, and the prob should be gone.

I think I understood the first one or two words!

Sorry, Mate, I mean the fuel cap. Basically, there should be historic fault codes stored in the PCM which you can retrieve with a scan tool. This should give you a clue what caused the check engine (MIL) lamp to come on for a while.
