After 3 week anticipation and only 2 days sheer joy the Monaro had to go back to the dealers on Sat, billowing plumes of steam from the engine compartment and wheel arches!!!

Seems there is some kind of design flaw as exactly the same thing happened to the guy who has another 6.0 VXR at the dealers. There's a coolant system hose towards the back of the engine bay (drivers side I think) that rubs through?

I'm not sure exactly which hose and what it rubs as I was in a hurry and it blew en route to me going away for the weekend so I wasn't particularly in the mood to be getting down and dirty under the bonnet.

If it is a recurring issue I would have thought it should be modified rather than just a new hose put on so the same can happen all over again? I could just ask the dealer to fit a new one every 10k service before it goes but thats hassle and I'll probably have a fight on my hands over who stumps up the cost for a non standard service item especially after the warranty is up.

Anyone else out there with a 6.0 VXR had the same problem? What did you do?

Holy F'kin cow... That's not a good start... Really sorry to hear that.

Hope you give the dealer a as much of a steaming as the car gave...have they said anything, how long, etc - hope they gave you decent courtesy car?

Guess our meet will have to wait a bit longer...

M8, you dont wanna know what the poxy courtesy car was in all fairness I did dump it on them on Sat morning without notice (luckily it only blew about 2 minutes from them) They had no courtesy cars available as they were all booked out so hired me something for Sunday which I picked up today on my way back from being away.

Wierd little thing, looks like Noddy's MPV LOL. Sounds like its only got 2 cylinders as well Goes by the name of Agila

No idead how long to fix...will hear tomorrow, I'll let you know

Sounds like a heater hose or something. Should be an easy fix hopefully.
Not a good start though.

havent heard of the problem actually occuring before now but I know exactly what hose you mean after today. Met up with Ron - forgotten his username, today and he was pointing out that very hose and that he was worried about it on his new car from Greens. Its to do with the rotation of the hose on the pipe - on my 04 plate its well away from the vertical metal plate that catches it. On his car the hose wasn't turned properly so it was rubbing on the plate. A quick twist and problem was solved though he's going to cable tie it well out the road in case it slips back.

yeah how much of a coincidence was that eh after us talking about that hose yesterday!! Problem they could have avoided altogether at the factory for the price of a cable tie. Excellent run today - thoroughly enjoyed it and the Wortec system sounded awesome. Some good roads down your neck of the woods. Must head down that way for a play more often

Any chance of some photos or a better description?

Is it accessible from underneath or under the bonnet?

Thanks for telling us all, another good reason for this site

I'll take pics of mine when I get it back and post em up which hopefully will be tomorrow. I say hopefully because although the dealer has ordered the hose, they can't tell me for sure if it's in stock until tomorrow !?!?! In other words if it arrives tomorrow it was in stock and if it doesnt it wasn't in stock. What kind of a poxy system is that?

Am I being unreasonable to expect a definite answer on stock/delivery today rather than having to wait until tomorrow just to find out on an offchance or is this just the start of the dreaded VH customer service that every one was warning me about

It's not the dealers fault regarding the part. Don't take it out on them.

Sounds like it's Vauxhall themselfs.

LOL you sound like a dealer m8 I wasn't actually taking it out on the dealer it just seems like a crap system where they can't tell if a part is in stock so the customer knows where he stands until the next day when it arrives or not as the case may be.

Anyway, who's fault it is isn't really the point here, I as a customer want to know when the car will be fixed and if they have to wait till the next day to see if the bit arrives before they can tell me its in stock or not, the system is crap period! what if it doesnt turn up either tomorrow or the next day or the next day....see the problem?!?

Maybe all they needed to do was pick up the phone and make a call to check but just couldnt be arsed? If so then that's down to the dealer. If there is no process for them to find out then yep its VX shite system, either way it all results in customer dissatisfaction and makes them both look crap.

Anyway I hope it is tomorrow and I hope its not a sign of things to come or I'll be shoving the Monaro up someones ar*e and going back to my Jap Import baked bean tin on wheels!

The garage can tell you whether it will be with you tomorrow, they should VOR order the part, when they put enquiry into the order system it will state the number of that item in stock at the factory.

Will find out for you, but not sure which pipe it is......do you have a part number ??

Thanks Caspy but it sounds like the dealer is just being lazy! You shouldn't have to do their work for them, besides I have no idea what the part number is.

I'm going to give them a bell and try and find out for sure as if its not in stock I want to know exactly how long its going to take as I'm not driving round in a noddy mobile for weeks when I've just shelled out the best part of £30k for a supercar!

Ok

They have ONE in stock!! If they havent ordered it, they need to do it now. If they have, could you let me know, as i want to order one to hold in stock for emergencies!!! (If i order one now and they havent ordered one, my order will take priority and would mean your car being delayed)

To get it tomorrow they HAVE TO ORDER VOR, may be worth you calling to ensure this is what has happened.

Any probs, gimme a call

Thanks a load for that Brian, I really appreciate it. I called the dealer and they said they have VOR'd it but have not had confirmation from VH on the order??? I said I was concerned as I had been advised stock was down to one so was there anything they could do to chase confirmation and he said he would call me back in an hour so I'm now waiting???
I'll let you know as soon as the hour is up....I just hope they are on the level!

If it's anything like the Fiat/Alfa system, you may have it assigned on VOR, but you can't garuntee next day.

Crap system indeed.

Heater hose in question is accessed under bonnet, just behind the battery. One of 2 rubber hoses that run along the top of the chassis leg next to the offside exhaust manifold, to just under the brake servo. It was laying against the thin, sharp edge of a galvanised metal plate bolted to the chassis leg. Said plate is probably there to secure heater hose
