My local Vauxhall dealer is going to do the work for me so no need to take days off work etc. Parts are available on the dealer fiche so any dealer can order the parts up. Might save a few of you a long drive to have the work done by a Monaro specialist - V6JDT for example Means I get to keep the car away from that mob in Edinburgh which is a bonus going by others experience.

Thanks for that Bob. I'll speak to Autovision in Inverness to see if they can do it for me.

Strange, I actually last week called helpline number on re-call notice to ask if local Vauxhall dealer could perform work with a view to calling them to order parts, Vauxhall said no has to be authorised dealer / fitter only. I asked nearest place to me which turned out to be Pentagon Derby where I got it, therefore had it booked in for 28th next month. Hoping still to make Donnington, but without your Meguires shine. The eternal optimist me!

I think it is something to do with an additional earthing strap under the front seats.

Apparently static electricity can build up and set the side airbags off.

The mod only takes about 20 minutes per seat

I just checked up with my local dealer in Vauxhall to book mine in. I bought the car a month ago (from somewhere else), they checked their database and said that mine didn't need it (CV8 04) - they didn't have a record of it already being done, and said because its not flagged, it doesn't require it.

I double checked with her, I thought all Monaro's needed it, she said she didn't think that was the case.

Is this true?

well mine is an 04 model cv8 and I got the recall notice from Vauxhall - you should get paperwork through direct from them. I dont have my paperwork at the moment or I'd give you the number to call at Vauxhall to let them know where you are and what car you own. You must be missing from their database of owners.

I have 04cv8 and I had a recall....

Could it be a batch thing i.e. a certain batch of cars/seats etc supplied were affected out of the total population?

Caspy I thought that was the case, and didn't really believe what they were telling me.

Its a shame you're not nearer otherwise I could pop over and get it sorted easily. Any idea how I can find if its been done already, as supposedly my local dealer reckons mine doesn't need it
