Hi mate. Nice to see another Kiwi on the forum! Try this one. The car is immaculate and was priced £3000 higher than this a few months back. Being sold due to a change in circumstances by one of our other forum members.

Best of luck

More Kiwi's cool.
Ive been here 9 years now mind you.
Good decision to get a V8 mate. Too many FWD rubbish bins scattered around the streets.
The car on pistonheads looks good. You might even be able to wangle a more favorable deal. Looks nice in black too.
Should be setup right with large brakes, hsv suspension, headers, manual trans etc too. 3.73:1 LSD driver and passenger airbags etc.
Ive got myself a 2000 GTS same model etc. Basically an HSV R8, god knows why the relabeled them as a GTS and renamed the GTS to a GTS-R. Crazy.
Anyway, go for it.
Also you can search on www.autotrader.co.uk there is often one or two listed on there. Pricewise though the Black GTS listed on this site looks best. In fact I just checked an the Black GTS is on there at "£12,000. ono"

The VT series 1 UK was a proper GTS. The series 2 was a rebadged R8.

The series 1 Clubsport wasn't available with anything other than the 5 litre producing 195KW. The GTS was a Harrop stroked 5.7 iron block producing 220 - 230kw depending on if you had the blueprinted engine. Available as an option for the Senator and std on the GTS only. Also had the T56 6 speed which again was an option on the Senator and std on the GTS, the Clubby had a 5 speed.

Yeah the harrop 5.7's were well cool. VS model was 215KW from memory. These days thats quite feeble, but at the time it was ginormous.

Ah so is there a late model import on the cards? LS2 Clubsport? Or something different?

A clubby is the top choice .......but a Maloo is a fine looking option....

I'd give my right arm for a new Clubby. Leave the Maloo. Ahh, I can dream I guess. I'll have to for the next year or two anyway!

Difficult to upgrade I have found, even the new M5 not a patch on them so I kept mine too! As you say, and not knocking the Monaros / VXR as no current car comes close IMHO but it isn't an upgrade from a GTS or GTSR! Perhaps the Monaro replacement a possibility?

Don,t get me started on "VE" .........But as for the Monaro I love them but just not as much as the GTS........and I have given them a fair try (over 180 at the moment}

The 297KW LS2 Clubsports look nice. Seem to be around £20,000 second hand in NZ/Oz. Plus shipping, vat, etc.
A very nice option. Of course you could fit an LS2 or stroker to your GTS/R8, but its nice to get a shinny new interior too.

Im betting Vauxhall do the VE Clubsports to replace the Monaro, but thats a wild guess.

Mine's a Commodore SS V8 5.7. OK, it's not quite a HSV shares a lot of the same hardware:

* HSV GTS-R Shifter
* 230+rwkw Open-Loop Tune with custom OS
* K&N CAI with CS Performance MAF Pipe
* Whiteline Front Strut Brace Bar
* Monaro CV8 Brakes, disks, & pads
* 3" Di-Fillipo 4-1 Headers
* 100 Cell Sport CATS
* 2.5" Stainless Exhaust with 5.5" oval tip
* etc, etc

The main differences will be the body kit, front seats, and brakes. Other than that it's in good condition and has been well cared for throughout my ownership. I even spent 9hrs polishing it the other day

I'm open to sensible offers.

I can send you a mail with more specific details if you like.
