Worth a punt or not really?

Thinking Magnecor but happy to be recommended to anything else.

I fitted them - don't know that there's anything noticeable but they are meant to give more reliable spark than "cheaper" leads and Doug @ LSV did me a reasonable deal on them. Only complaint was that they are red so look the same as the stock parts. I was at least hoping for a different colour

I doubt you will see any gains. Keep your old ones for spares if you change.

Magnecor's bank balance probably performs better as a result..

Maybe just wrap your stock ones with coloured electrical tape and save the money for petrol

The stock ones are as good as any. I have fitted a set of Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro red silicon leads on my LS1 'Vette, no noticeable difference at all, but red looks cool...
and at 40 bucks a set in the US, they arent expensive.

Got to agree, unlikely to make any noticable difference

But there is some benefit to replacing the leads from time to time... they do deteriorate as some of us have found..

Yep, they will of course have a finite life, like any engine component. Based purely on experience, I would suggest that any plug wires should be renewed after 5yrs /60K miles, or sooner if they look dry or cracked. Aftermarket silicon wires are more resistant to radiant heat from headers than stock rubber ones, thats for sure. So, replace them if theyre knackered, or if you just fancy a different colour, but dont be too disappointed if you dont find the "5-10hp gain" some manufacturers claim. thats my 3 ha'peth!
