Was about to buy at set of 19" BMW M5 copies for the Monaro today - everything was fine up until we realised the hub on the 'ro was 69mm and the wheels were 72mm and the garage had no shims suitable for bridging the gap. Complete with tyres they worked out at £850 inc which I thought was pretty decent. Not bad looking on the car either - got a pic with them next to car on the phone I'll post up. What wheels have people been buying for their cars?

Don't think I've seen one on anything other than stock wheels......the 19" on the VXR fill out the arches nicely anyway.

Got the pics yet?

Bob, you can get the sleeve adaptors from here, www.rimstock.co.uk

That said, most BMW rims are no more than 40mm offset, so beware of them fouling the rear arches, especially when fully laden.

the book most suppliers seem to be using insists the offset is between 35-40mm but I was sure I'd seen on here it should be 42-48mm. Anyone care to enlighten me either way? Was offered a set of 19" outlaw bmw wheels today complete with nanking tyres for 750inc - they had a 35mm offset. I either need wheels or tyres pre Donny - so I need to decide pdq if I'm going to get them ordered and fitted before the drive down.

35mm off set is not going to fit, in particular at the rear. The wheel will stick out beyond the arch. As Paul has posted the offset is 48mm. You can get away with a bit less, but not that much.

well one to watch out for then if anyone decides go to 3rd party retailer as their books seem to be published with 35-40mm offset for the Monaro. Thanks for that warning - I was sure I'd seen it mentioned as 42-48mm on here but all their docs suggested 35-40 so I was beginning to doubt myself.

Check with a body shop and see if you can get your wheel arch extended.
They use a device that connects to the hub with a nylon roller on the end and gently warm and roll the arch till it is extended. Not one for the purists but it has been done many times before.

I was looking in an industry wheel spec book only last week. It had various different holden models listed at all sorts of offset. Ute was listed at 10mm!!!

Whatever the book says, they are all 48mm offset. Personally, i'm not keen on the arch rolling thing, though it certainly has its place.

have found a couple of suppliers this morning that supply bmw compatible wheels with 46mm offset. surely that's going to be close enough to get away with? awaiting prices for them from the suppliers.

typical!!! the day after I order 2 new tyres the guys at JHP come back to me with a price on some 19" wheels. The genuine GM HSV 19x8 VX GTS wheel set of 4 without tyres is 1285GBP delivered to the UK!!! Wonder if I can swing these past her indoors to keep in the shed until I wear some more tyres out?

There was a silver Monaro on the ramps at LSV about 6 weeks ago that had been having the arches rolled. Might be worth a call if interested.

Any ideas on what the maximum width we can go to? (without arch mods) An 8J with a 235 tyre just seems a tad inadequate when horse power and cornering speeds increase.

cheers

I don't know if it helps, but i'm told the ute's are the same measurement arch to arch as the coupe's.
Even downunder it was difficult finding a decent width rim as I don't see the point at looking to go for aftermarkets if you can't get some decent size rubber.
I found these G.Max 182's,18x8.5 with 235/40's fronts,18x9.5 with 275/35's,both 45p offsets.
These just had a tiny rub with a 30mm drop,so I only needed to roll the inner arch lip slightly for clearence.
They do look a little bling with the Camera flash, however the shadow chrome inner's work well with the dark body.
Another really nice wheel which was'nt available in the sizes I wanted at the time but are now is the 5 spoke "Koya" Inox1.
I ended up going for 18's as a friend of mine went for the same set up on his Ute in 19's and it drove like a bag of shite, with the 30 and 35 profiles.
