Anyone have an idea what this button is for?
Discussion
Potential numpty question coming up:
There is a small button which is placed left of the headlamp switch which I have no idea what its for. Its obviously not standard as it has a wire trailing into the dash. If I press it a led LED comes on, but there was no mention of it when I bought it, and I don't think I have any info on it (there are some sheets with details on the Vauxhall alarm system but I assumed that was the standard system)
Sorry about the poor pics, I was in a rush when I took them. Any ideas?
I thought it was something like in Lost, so I push the button every 3 hours just in case

If you get time to take better pictures using the camera's macro facility it may help.
I can make out two rows of 3 dots. Is this right?
Best guess, and that's all it is, is that it controls the laser jammer/diffuser. I don't own one but according to the Snooper web site one of the features of the "Snooper SLD920X Laser Diffuser" (and I guess other marques) is that it has an LED ON/OFF button in the cabin. That's about the right position for it if you're going to install such a device. Nice & easy to get at in a hurry. Have a look behind the front grills to see if you've got it (or something like it) installed.
Check here for installation locations.
Other uses on a more jovial note include:
o Anti Ford Gatling gun
o Exhaust flame thrower for that 'WOW/WTF' factor
o Warp Drive for that 'extra' bit of power when you need it

Here's a clearer pic using a better camera
although I've found a sheet of paper which actually explains what its for but it doesn't seem to do what it says. It says MVX2 Operating instructions, and is printed by Vauxhall and then talks about the LED indicating what alarm has been triggered depending on the number of flashes when you deactivate the alarm.
It is supposed to allow you to overide the alarm by tapping in a code (which I don't have), but also its supposed to flash when the alarm is activated, which it doesn't so I don't know if it has any use. So it sounds like its a Vauxhall fit, although it looks aftermarket
Shame I quite like the idea of the flame thrower

It is the control switch for the Thatcham alarm circuit ie an additional immobiliser to take the car to level one from the standard level 2. Normally a Meta is fitted. You only need to use the switch to reset the alarm in the event of a problem or the alarm being triggered as the door key can normally be used for normal use. You can check the installation by finding an additional alarm siren in the engine compartment and there should be a small plastic card with instructions.
Sorry I meant to post under my Monaro id V10JRR not my TVR one Lost Boys.
The installation is normally done aftermarket as some insurance companies accept the standard Vauxhall Thatcham 2 whereas others will not and offer serious reductions if you go for the Thatcham 1 separate system immobiliser and siren.
