And to tempt you further ...................

If you do come up you'll travel on this ferry ........

and pass the "Old man of Hoy" ...................

and the highest sea cliff in Britain "St. Johns head at 1260 ft..............

and I'll see you coming in from my living room - this is my view .................

and you'll find beautiful beaches too ...................

Will I start taking names now and see what discount I can get you on the ferry??????

Wow terrific scenery. Been to the Shetlands a few times on business and loved it there especially that approach into the airport in bad weather!!! For those that know it is quite an experience!!

When is this going to be?

Trying not to think of the petrol involved to get there but a convoy of Monaro's from all the way down south......what a scary and noisy sight that would make.

I am in if I can be.

Errrrrrrr!
For anybody interested in this .....!!!
We are not planning to drive all the way from Hampshire in a day, we'll be B&B'ing along the way, probably in Fort William
The original plan was for next summer when there is some sort of Festival in Orkney, that way all the petrol heads can do a cruise and talk cars etc!!!!! While there is the diversion of the festival, for all those interested in that, or just look out to sea at the views ... just to see if you can get better pics than those already posted here!!

Stromness "Shopping Week" is usually about the 3rd week in July but it doesn't have to be then, just whenever suits the majority. Weather is usually predictable for a nice May and June whereas July can be wet as I'm sure Neil (Rocket) will verify!
As for speed cameras, there are 4 Gatso's on the A9 from Perth up to Inverness then nothing after that. Once a month the shoot Scamera van does the rounds in Orkney but we usually get a warning from some kind soul!!!
We'll need to have a chat about dates etc. at Silverstone along with a beer.
