Just had a new fuel filter fitted.

Big difference! - cant believe how choked they can become over such a short period of time

I changed mine at 25k or so, as it was listed to change in the service schedule for my HSV. I noticed no difference, suppose it depends on the rubbish that has been put in the tank. I would be interested in a picture of the insides to see how bad it looks.

car is at 68k - got the filter at linden yesterday (was visiting friends 10mins away) - mark fitted it as well at 20mins notice.

Think the fuel demand by the charger found the weak link?

for the cost i'm going to change it every other oil change i think.

OK, I will be the one to ask the stupid question

What difference does it make?

much better throttle response.

due to the charger it felt pretty good before hand - but it was masking the need for a filter change.

I think my 'enthusiastic' driving may have also swashed some cr@p up from the bottom of the tank which wont have helped ;-)

Best not to use 'full bore' antics on less than a quarter tank IMHO

yes - agree - now only go as far as half a tank. tends to get a bit boring filling up however given the relatively small tank for such a thirst :-(

Yes I know, filling up after 120 miles can be a pain

Why? Can the force from acceleration starve the fuel pump?

Golden rule : If you see a fuel truck in the service station... keep driving. You would be supprised at how much rubbish can get into your fuel system. Older service stations and independents rarely clean their tanks, due to the cost and the length of time they aren't pumping petrol, costs them money. Anyhow, takes about 4-5 hours for all the silt and rubbish to float back down to the bottom.

It's not fuel starvation, well I hope not with two tanks & two pumps, thought it was to stop dragging up debris?

20 mpg is about the best I can hope for on a run, spirited driving & the figures are halved, track use about 8 mpg!

That's not that bad considering the state of tune your car is in I'd say!
