I have a problem with my engine idling, when I started my car yesterday the revs seemed quite low, I gave it a little throttle and the revs picked up as normal but then dropped and the engine stalled. I then started her back up and the same happened again although the engine did not stall but dropped to about 100 rpm before very slowly picking up back to the idling position. This now happens every time I rev the car and I’m not too sure if it is all right to drive to my nearest monaro dealership as it is quite a way. Has anyone experienced anything like this before or can help with my problem?
Grateful for any advice, thanks.

Stock tune? Or an aftermarket one?
If its stock, then its likely a mechcanical or electrical issue. If its an aftermarket tune, it could be either, or a problem with the tune. Though if its only started doing it and has been fine for months, its likely the former.

You can run it up on a data logger and see what things look like. Bottom line drop it off to someone who knows whats what and have it sorted.

I had this problem before and got Greens to look at it for me. I even called out the AA and the mechanic ther didnt havea clue as to why the engine was performing that way. I was advised that the oil level had dropped quite significantly and after a bit of juice was added, the problem was solved. Aint had the problem since.

Interesting, I wonder if it was a lack of oil that made the engine run hot & reduce idle speed, why, because I did a run the other day, parked for half hour and on restart the warning light came on for high temp after 1 mile, scratched my head for a while as the header tank was full & no leaks evident, then checked the oil, added ¾ of a litre and temp gauge went straight to normal & no problems since. Heat soak no doubt after the run with aircon on after restarting but who would thought such a relatively small amount of oil (especially with increased sump capacity) cause over heating.
