I'm guessing it has a m/cycle engine, certainly been lowered a lot. I'd love one just to use for traffic light grand prix's
I'm sure Will will know what's inside it.

I have seen that before but do not know the details, have been in a bike engined smart before, sometimes they are proper conversions, Z-Cars in UK do them & others remove passenger seat & fit engine there, talk about noise!

Typically they use 1,000 cc engines & 17,000 or so RPM! Sadly no reverse gears make a little awkward

We had 3 hsv/smart owners once upon a time, A57 HSV (no longer with GTS), HSVGTSCoupe (sold to raggyman) & me, looks like just the two of us now!

Michael, ever thought about tuning/modifying your smart, I have 6 years experience of that & many good contacts. My current daily ride has over 100 ft-lbs of torque measured at the wheels at 2,600 RPM which can upset a Monaro/HSV in traffic, titter

yes Will I have, actually was at college the other day (trowbridge) when someone put a business card on the car (local place, smartstyle or something)

Anyway it has another 2 years warranty yet and for now the car, as standard, is all I need. My plan was to look at going down either a type-r conversion = $$$$$ or dropping a bike engine in. I cant see an issue getting a gearbox mated up to reverse if required on a motorbike engine...

Either way they are mere pipe dreams for now, fantastic cars though arent they?

No smartarse design nicked my name, good friends though, can only recc Smartarse Design in Watford (I know, miles away) & Rob Baker (01923 288199), they are in Romsey too having 'pulled out' down your way with another company taking over in Wells.

I know Rob Baker has mapped a car to 100 brake with no mods, about £350 with rolling road, plus they can reset to standard for warranty work. It will cost at least £10k to covert to bike engine, Z Cars do it in 4-2 & roadster to date in UK, bloody noisey, no reverse & lack of torque & possibly too powerful at top end, physics dictate some limits to the smart, have had 120/130 mph Cabrio but my coupe is only good for about 110 mph as it won't rev past 5.5k, had it tuned for torque over bhp (97.9 bhp)but it really has some low down grunt and way more powerful than a supercharged GTS on cc's, 148 BHP/Litre, HSV 101 BHP/Litre LOL. Rob has a 600cc Smart coupe with 110 BHP making it 183 BHP/Litre! Watford have Red Dot next door & they have quite a few Monaro's built for drifting, what a small world. Yep mad about smarts, more fun than HSV but not as rewarding LOL

The above pictures show a big £ project. The Smart sits upon a modified UniMog chassis. A very serious off-roader.

I just love that they kept the original motor in to turn the clockwork keys attatched to the rear axle LOL
