I love Mustangs, but the GT500 will set you back about 50 grand over here......so when a VXR 500 retails at only £36k, I know which I'd have.

However, a Mustang GT can be one your drive, brand spanking new, for £26k. Sure, it's only got 300bhp and LHD, but it could (possibly) sway me from a second hand VXR. I will make sure I drive one before settling on the 'Ro.

Oh, and while we're on the subject (and for once, I didn't start it!!!), here's what Road & Track think the '09 and '12 Mustangs will look like.

'09 (a subtle but effective facelift)

'12 (a complete re-design, with definate Camaro influences).

I like 'em both, but I'd like to see the Mustang V8 running 400bhp as standard in order to challenge the Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro

Yep, good article. A little harsh on the old 'Stang, as it was never designed (or had the chassis retuned) to our rubbish roads. I'm sure a decent Borla exhaust would have made all the difference in the music stakes.

I wonder how long Ford will continue with the live axle? When Chevy's Camaro comes online with IRS, I think Ford will need to reconsider.....especially for the top end Mustangs.

As it is, both Mustang and Monaro are loveable beasts and I'd welcome either. As a package though, the VXR500 takes some beating

Pah a borla exhaust on tht stang would never match the tunes put out by the wortec/headers combo, that is just music to be quite fair

When I can be ars*d to look for them, there are some GTO vids online with Borlas systems fitted and at least 2 Monaro CV8 vids I know of with Borla systems fitted and tbh, they do sound pretty dog rough. No remaps, just bolt on cat backs
