500 BHP NA from a 6 litre VXR

They are mistaken.
I think his sentence scripting is poor.
I think he means he read of a 6L engine that developed 500bhp NA, without having had the supercharger conversion which Greens offer.
500bhp isnt unreasonable from a NA 6L engine, but the LS7 has that as standard.
The supercharger is probably the least hassle way of upgrading though

I think i know who he is refering to on another forum, and the customer is mistaken as to the power output if he thinks it is 500+.
He has headers, sport cats, exhaust and remap and will produce the same as the other cars with the same upgrades.
I imagine you would need a cam to go through 500 NA on a 6lt.

I spend £3,000 at Greens of Rainham havaing my car remapped, new air-filters / induction kit, custom exhausts and a ripshift gearbox. The extra power IS noticble BUT... she's no running just over 500bhp which is what the new supercharged VXR500's is running. So I've ordered the supercharger kit which should make her 612bhp (£6,000)
The ripshift box is great. I found the original box suffered from the 'wooden spoon in vat of treacle' syndrome - but now it's a proper racing box that changes beautifully.
I can't wait to get the supercharger in! The noise from the new exhausts is FABULOUS and the hiss as the induction kit sucks the air in when gunned from idle is terrific.
If you get it done, CHECK YOUR OIL WEEKLY!!! She drinks a bit more than she used to.
I had to uprate the power in mine because of my huge ICE install. Even though I've lost the spare wheel to make extra space, she's still got a fat ass that needed a little more ooomph to pull!!!

isnt your car already supercharged by LSV?
if so then surely they can do a remap or change the blower cog if you want to detonate your engine?

Just my tuppence.
500hp is easily available from 6 litres, with the right mods. The problem is as the state of tune goes up, so the driveability goes down, and by that I'm talking about living with the car. A SBC making around 500hp will have a steep profiled cam in it and there are normally issues below 2000 rpm. Also delivery will be more peaky at the other end. Mid range torque normally suffers too when cams and heads are tuned out, and this (IMO) removes a lot of enjoyment from everyday drivers cars.
Superchargers, on the other hand, just improves what you already have, and it gives your ear something additionaly tuneful to listen too

500bhp from a n/a LSx engine is very achievable with the right parts. As standard, they are incredibly mildly tuned, so there is so much potential there waiting to be released.
proper induction, cam selection, and of course heads and exhaust should see 500bhp without that much difficulty I would think.
And the LS7 is a 7.0
With Monkfish / Wortec mods including headers etc etc, a hot cam and decat my HSV is producing close enough to 500 BHP to make it match my BMW M5 V10 'on my private racetrack' (
). Performance feels exactly the same too although power delivery is very different along with the soundtrack

so, as my car has the ecu remap and catback exhaust to produce around 450, would the supercharger conversion take it to 550 ??

I'll let you know....
BTW: Standard ~400 + Catback ~430 + headers ~450 ... unless you have "other" mods

2 grand-ish for a Wizards of Nos wet nitrous system will give you a real British 550 to 750 BHP depending on jets you choose
A tad quicker (understatement of 2006) as not only lighter than a supercharger install but no power losses to drive anything either
I had n20 on my Ultima giving just over the 720hp mark. Complete waste of time at that level of power as you just cannot put it down and that was with the NOS progressive controller. We even had a microswitch on the gear linkage so the n20 would not engage in the first two gears
As already mentioned at around £3 a lb and you have a 12lb bottle = £36 its expensive and it is gone in a couple of 'poses'. You're far better off using forced induction where you have the power all the time as you can learn to use the power, whereas with n2o, you are normally hanging on to the seat of your pants and using 'the force'
