Thoought I'd put in a word for this VXR as I nearly bought it but, due to requiring the money at the business, had to pull out. It's a Sept 04 5.7 VXR in Phantom Black. About 23,000 miles and at Belmont Vauxhall in Edinburgh. They were asking £23,995 but very quickly dropped that to £21500 with haggling and they've had it for 2 months now with no interest, so I suspect they'll go lower.

Car seems fine overall but I found a few points that needed picked up on and sorted:

1. Front bumper needs a respray as the laqueur was peeling slightly where the diagonal groove is on the drivers side.

2. Front wing had two parallel scratches about 4 inches long and through to primer....needs paint.

3. Rear bumper had numerous swirl marks where someone has put things on it to open the boot...needs a good T cut

4. Rear spoiler must be loose as it had rubbed the bootlid where the centre buttress meets it, and also the side parts of the spoiler attached to the wings had wear on the inside edge where they meet it.

5. Mechanical clunk from rear behind drivers seat. Didn't get time to isolate it but does need looked at.

6. Drivers door handle had lost the paint on the top surface, only visible when you pull the handle.

Otherwise it was mint. No alloy damage, no other marks, clean interior, drivetrain still felt tight, very few stonechips. So really, the only issues are basically build quality paint issues. It was a 1 owner car as well, though I never managed to contact the previous Aberdeen based owner. It was originally advertised privately in Autotrader for £20k so I suspect it can be picked up for that if anyon has the brass neck.

Shame I couldn't buy it, but business needs outweigh pleasure, and I'm still very happy with my current RX8 so hope someone gets a bargain on this car.

Thanks for the heads up Ali. I've seen it there too when I had mine in to get the brakes changed. It looked decent enough apart from what you've mentioned. Maybe I'll make them an offer when I pick mine up after they've sorted my clutch. £3k to change?? cloud9

Going slightly off topic (we are all good at that round here....)

Anyone know how much a new clutch is?

No idea but I was told it was easy or quick to do from my friendly mechanics.

Clutch is pretty straight forward to do. Its the cost of the cltch that hurts!

there's a replacement clutch for up to 04 LS1 GTO's so should do Monaro as well - little over 800 US$ I'm sure the cheapest way to replace the clutch will be to import your own and perhaps get an improved model for around same as you'll pay for a standard item.
