Just looked in the handbook - doesn't say does it apart from the spec.

One of my services had Castrol Performance.

Not much help I am afraid.

My dealership put 10w 40 GM oil in. Nice to see the put the same c**p in my car as they do in the lesser cars of the Vauxhall range.

Roger at Monkfish uses Royal Purple. I can't remember what grade he said it was though. Roger?

Hi all,
I'm new to the site.
The Ls1 VXR reccomended to have the 10/30 Mobil 1,however Mobil no longer market it over here according to their web site.
By the way I have number 50 of the LS1 VXR's,had it from new,it's been great.

The US cars have a mobil1 cap. So its definately 10-30 mobil from the factory.
The manual says you can use 20 weight if its not available. 0 and 5 stuff may be too light unless you are in very cold weather (Scotland?) Us southerners can probably use the 15-50 stuff no problem. Thats what I filled up with last time, though I got a good deal on ebay for a case of royal purple 10-30 so its that for a while now.

Mate uses Mobil 1 motorsport 15/50 in his Monaro. Im using Motul 300V 4/50 in my LS1.

Both are excellent oils.

When I read the manual it had TBC against oil capacity, any idea how much oil an 04 vxr takes?

6.25l to do a full oil change. Can highly recommend the Miller's XFS and CFS oils. XFS is around 30ukp for 5l the CFS racing oil is around 50ukp for 5l

Would it be ok to top up with Mobil 1 15w50 if it's been filled with 10w30? Or would I be better off using another synthetic of the same grade?
