Sorry, have no pix to show for it but during my 2 days in Oz, spent a good hour on Monday crawling over under & through a nice showroom black GTS from the new VE range - also checked out the Clubby R8.
They are imposing looking cars - the marketing pix don't really do them justice as they look a bit more Vectra/Lexus ish in the pix. They are a very hard & edgy looking car with balls on their balls & black (the best colour as we all know) really looks the biz. The 20 inch rims are just sensaish although I dont know about all the HSV talk about why they have the 365mm 4 pots on the front of the GTS - I reckon the 6 pot AP's are still the only way to go although the braking power from initial stopping tests put most other euro marques to shame. Doing this type of braking twenty times in 2 minutes might tell a different story though & AP's are the best IMHO.
There are quite a few differences between the R8 & GTS but not quite enough me thinks. The GTS name (GTS-R in UK guise) has always been a big deal with HSV & I think the new GTS has in reality replaced the Clubby R8 & the new R8 has now replaced the base Clubsport that now does not exisit in the VE line up. I think this is a shame as the GTS label should of been retained for a circa $100K ball breaker like it has in the past.

We were discussing recently about best value muscle cars on a global scale & surely these are up there when you look at local purchase prices of circa £18K for the entry V8 commodore, £25K for the R8 & £31K for the GTS.

As mentioned in my other post, I now have one VE HSV brochure & special "VE edition" wheels mag left for the first taker. BOSS, DELMEEKC & VXRDaz (and the lucky punter who gets the 4th one) need to email me their snail mail address.

Wouldn't have been at Watson Holden, would it? I was drooling over a black VE GTS out there two weeks ago. Keep telling myself to resist. So far I am hanging in there, waiting for the new VE Utes to come out late next year. Luckily the old VTII SS keeps me entertained...needs a cam though!
