Hi all,

I have a strange request that I thought you guys might be able to help me with. I am getting married to my Australian sweetheart next year on June 9th up here in Scotland, and we have 30 of her nearest and dearest coming to visit at the wedding, which I am hoping will be something a little special. I am a Brit, and we share a common love for Holdens. I drove an 04 HSV out in Oz last year and I thought it was truly awesome.

I thought it would be a great idea to have a Holden as the wedding car, so you guys were my first port of call. I guess there isn't much scope for hiring Holdens in the UK. I wondered if any of you with smart Holdens would fancy a trip to Scotland, with fuel paid, obviously, and an invite to a pretty large wedding reception, for acting as our wedding car.

I'm in the RAF, so I can also offer a look around one of our jets as well!

Can anyone out there offer any help?

Cheers

Jimmy

Good try, but I think you'd be fighting my other half for it, she's dying to have a trip!

Ok, I'll post it again since it didn't get transferred across when the other one was closed...

I'd love to help out, only prob is our own anniversary is just a few days before and we tend to go away at that time.

Let me muse upon it - I have a Monaro btw.

Forgive me Chris, I'm a bit grumpy at the moment - the M23 & M25 were shit on a stick tonight.

I'll have a beer or 5 and come back a bit more mellow.

Soz.

Calling "raggyman"... Cmon Jace, presha's on mate, livin in Newcastle (virtual Scot!), it's yr duty to do the right thing by this lad & his Aussie Missus - if she's mad enough to marry a pom, then at least get her to the wedding in a real Aussie beast, after all yr car has been there, done that, got the photo ....

hell I'm sure either myself, Ron or even Jeff could volunteer our services. We're all members on here and all in Scotland. I've got a black 04 model cv8, Jeff has a blue one the same and Ron has an Odyssey grey 06 cv8 model with the bonnet vents. Theres an RAF guy from Livingston, works out of Edinburgh, got a red 4 door is a member on here as well but his name escapes me at the moment.

Ah sure Julian, bring up that you love Suoozz more than me... We all know it is a cover... sniffle sniffle... (kind of great tears of joy really)...

The Monaro is hopeless as a departing Wedding car. Pretty good to take them there though. Really need a four door to do that, and well the commodore is only a V6, so not like the boys cars.

Be careful what you wish for Jimmy, we could have a mini meet at your wedding..

I would offer to do it but as raggyman says, a 3dr is not really practical.

Thanks very much for the offers guys! It does look like this could spiral out of control quite quickly! Still, I can think of a lot worse than a fleet of Australia's finest at the wedding, but I would need to clear it with the Station Commander to drag the runway!

As has been mentioned, I think 4 door is probably the way ahead for the wedding, as I'd probably get quite an ear bashing if she had to sqeeze into the back of a Marilyn!

i dunno about that mate... most aussie chicks jump at the chance of gettin in the back seat of a monaro! i think thats where a fair % of the aussie population actually starts

If you really wanted to impress the visitors, I would be up to start a procession of Holdens to take you from and to the wedding. Would even put fancy ribbon's on the car..

Zane is yer man for the job!
He comes fully recommended, as he took me to my wedding in August, he screams and shouts though at the mere mention of a peaked hat!

I'm sure she was working on the asumption that Zane would have another Holden/HSV by then as she is not that cruel!
