Its thickness thats required here though Nige and not girth.

I seem to recall someone saying they were running 8.5" of thick black rubber - on 19" alloys. Its certainly been discussed on here several times. Maybe another candidate for the FAQ?

You'll probably get away with a 10-20mm increase in width (I think they are 245s as standard on the VXR)

The purists don't like it but you can always roll the arches for extra clearence, it looks ott but not Lambo ott.

Booster put 255's on his stock 04 CV8 wheels with no probs...... and they looked good

Yeah - I put 255/35 on the back and kept the 235/40's on the front. Just looks better with fat tyres on the back.

Got any pictures? I've just replaced my rears with std 235/40s but maybe next time I might go wider, it's only £20 per tyre extra. I guess it'd make little different to how it drives since it's only 1cm extra each side in width.
