A new problem materialised last night. I couldn't lock the car with the button on the key. The drivers door would not lock or unlock. When pressing the lock button, the passenger door would lock but because the drivers door wouldn't, the horn beeped the warning. I could turn the key in the door to lock it (which is what I did).

Tried it this morning, still no luck. I sat in the car and manually raised/lowered the button. 7 out of 10 times, only the drivers door would operate. The other times, both would operate. I drove to the office, parked up & tried again, still no luck. Anyone come across this before?

only time I've seen anything similiar was at Silverstone where the radio mast was interfering with the key signals. Unless there's a new mobile phone mast nearby you will probably need a visit to a dealer for a warranty repair. Least its still within the last few months of the 3 years for the 04 models.

Yes, I have had this exact problem but it was the passenger side that was the offending one. It started to become erratic as far as going up or down, until it eventually gave up completely. Now it has to be manually operated, and if its not locked when locked remotely you get the horn warning.

I suspect yours is on the way out. I think it needs a new solenoid, but havent been down to Greens to get it fixed....
