What are the differences?

Are there any differences appart from the disks/pads/calipers? Same master cylinder etc?

Not sure about the master cylinder. I've got VXR disks/pads/calipers on mine but with original m/cyl and they work a treat. AFAIK it's just a bolt on replacement (I think you need to use the hoses from the VXR too)

If only you'd said free to a good home

Any idea of how much you want for them?

Jimbo, just bear in mind that new discs & pads through official sources are hideously expensive.

I have been quoted £1100 for a pair of fronts, with pads, fitted.
A lot of cash for something that can wear out in under 20,000m.

Might be worth considering going straight to AP's as those discs reportedly last a lot lot longer.

Alternatively, I believe the VXR stuff is actually made by PBR in Australia and they'll ship a whole set, front & rears inc lines & pads over here for £1100 inc carriage.

Don't forget though, that the discs on the Monaro are made so that you can have them machined a couple of times to basically give you a new disc. Was absolutely shocked here that disks don't get machined, they just get replaced. Very expensive process that really doesn't need to happen.

And uprated front pads from Monkfish are £100 ish rather than £200 for OE.

My old VXR brakes are on ebay right now. Auction is due to end tonight. Top bid is still only £100. So be quick if anyone is interested!!

I'm I right in thinking that an 05 CV8 uses the same brakes as an 04 VXR?

Machinable discs are a great idea and suitable for the Monaro but most cars are trying desperately to reduce weight and unsprung weight is the most crucial area, therefore most sports car manufacturers provide the minimum mass possible and expect you to replace instead of machining the discs. It's not just that they are being cheap but that also motivates them.

From memory you have to modify VXR brakes to fit the 05 CV8 they fit straight on to an 04
The modification is to drill out the fixing holes
