hello has anyone done an lpg conversion to a monaro ?

before u start ... yes not done out of choice but due to silly cst of fuel in the uk

One of the problems with LPG, is the potential for small backfires in the inlet manifold, which can blow up the plastic one.

Its probably a small risk, but there all the same. Im pretty sure some guys down under have done the conversion though.

Have a chat with these guys they have done one www.envirogas.net/ I spoke with Stuart who had his car converted and although there were some issues they were sorted and he's v happy. I bought an 04 car (big boot) so I had the option of LPG if fuel turned into an issue.

Pretty pointless IMHO. Extra mess, weight, cost, loss of boot space, performance issues etc over the duration of ownership doesnt make it stack up unless you want to run up a hundred thousand miles or something.

There is a 'purist' approach which I can understand, however the idea of a 400bhp car which gives the equivelant of 40mpg is quite tempting, the conversion is £2k so you would have to cover 16k miles to recover the investment, both Wortec and Monkfish have been complimentary about this particular conversion.

Unless you have a separate tune for each fuel you will be down on power.
LPG is higer octane, but burns will less energy. Plus the hassle of less knowledge for maintenance issues, etc.
But Im sure it has its places.

The car I drove and tuned at Monkfish was certainly not down on power, if you are considering it I would certainly talk to Monkfish about it and find out the installer their customer used.

That saving would pay for the conversion if you were a daily commuter
