Bit busy with work atm... need some help to get these questions answered...

How many people/cars are you expecting at the meet?

How many did you have last year?

What sort of cars — examples of what people have brought over.

Vauxhall obviously imported the Monaro, are there any other makes available on the market here that are essentially the Australian product?

Roughly how much does it does to import an off-the-floor Holden/HSV/Ford from Aus.

Are there any figures on how many of these cars are on the road in the UK?

How do people find out about others with similar cars? Is it all forum based? Tell us about the club/s available and how people join?

Tell people what the day will be like for lovers of big Aussie V8s.

Thanks Paul... this is what i had time to do so far.. will do more tonight..

How many people/cars are you expecting at the meet?

There are a wide range of cars that people have brought over. There is a 1960 FB (which is stunning), 1964 EH, 1972 HQ Ute, 1970 Torana, (these guys hang out on www.holdenuk.co.uk). There is even one of the first monaros as well. There are recent model Utes, Maloos, V6 Commodores (I have one of those as well). In 1999-2002, and what initially started the club were around 61 HSV’s imported, which were a mixture of ClubSports and R8’s. There are a growing list of imported vehicles as well, with members within the club giving help to others who are looking to do the same thing.

Vauxhall obviously imported the Monaro, are there any other makes available on the market here that are essentially the Australian product?

No, the Monaro was it, however there were a few companies who were importing them on a commercial basis to on sell the to the UK market.

To import it, there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, if you have owned the vehicle in the Australia and you owned the vehicle for more than 12 months, you can bring it into the UK without having to pay VAT or Duty on it. However if you do a straight up import, be prepared to pay for more than what the car is worth. Total costs to import the vehicle are around £600-£1000. Depending on which way you go about. (Can suggest one place in particular who are awesome). Insurance – Insurance for a commodore is around £400 with no claims discount, and the monaro is around £600 with 7 years no claim bonus. Here on a side note, if you insure two vehicles you can only ever claim no claim discount on one vehicle, unlike back home. They don’t call I rip off Britain for nothing.

Are there any figures on how many of these cars are on the road in the UK?
There are around 60+ HSV’s, 1000 Monaro’s. and probably about another 10 or so in various forms. There are also a few Ford Falcon’s here as well.

How do people find out about others with similar cars? Is it all forum based? Tell us about the club/s available and how people join?

Initially the www.hsv.org.uk forum was set up some members who had bought the initial intake of HSV’s into the UK. With the import of Monaro’s into the country, the forum has grown to be quite a large community now. A lot of the monaro owners have joined the forum either by searching on the internet or being flagged down by other Monaro owners who are members of the forum. (There are only 3 monaros here in Newcastle, including an elusive one which I am yet to catch up with. We gave each other a race one night, but I had to get home).
