The passenger seat has lost its return to position memory!
It stutters at the position the seat was in before being moved but keeps moving all the way to the backstop.
The dealers were supposed to fix it at the previous service but did not, and had a look at the last service the other day and reported "the passenger seat is not supposed to return to its original start position"! Incorrect statement from the expert!!.
Any advice appreciated before i take it apart to find the problem.
I am sure my taller rear seat passengers would thank me for preventing the squashed legs. I would be glad to see out of the passenger window again, because the seat tends to be stopped short deliberately to prevent crushed legs in the rear!

Hmmm I think they might be correct.
As far as I'm aware only the drivers seat has the memory function. The passenger seat once moved with the leaver will return briefly to a preset possition (not the one set by the passanger) on pushing the button and then continues rearward after a short pause if the button is held depressed.
But there again mine could be broken aswell !!

The only memory the passenger seat has is its start point.
After the seat has been moved forward to allow access to the rear, holding the button on the side of the seat back should allow the seat to stop, in the same position it was at before being moved forward.
My passenger seat now pretends to stop correctly, by briefly juddering at the correct position, but continues all the way back to the rear stop!
The seat used to stop in the correct position but now it does not.

Paul,
Just tell Ian & Adam that if they want a ride in your car then they have to get their legs amputated. There are 4 main benefits to this which is why I'm certain it's a good idea:
1/ They'll probably not want to come for a ride, so you'll save weight and be able to go faster
2/ If they do come for a ride, you'll be 4 legs lighter, so you'll be able to go faster
3/ Either way, you'll save weight, and therefore get better fuel economy. Which means you'll be able to drive past a Toyota Prius with your head held high. In fact, the legs could probably help a land mine victim somewhere - how many Toyota Prius owners can claim that their cars are that humane !!
4/ You won't have to risk getting it fixed at you favourate Monaro "specialist".
I think this is pure genius

Have you all had the airbag recall recently????
You'll probably fimd that they have cocked up the earth bonding of the seat which causes the stutter and often causes memory!!! loss if its in the drivers seat.
This fault basically males the seats a pain in the ar5e (forgive the pun) as they don't respond how you expect.
Missus's Monaro was done and had to be redone to cure erratic seat problems.
Cheers
Eric
