Why must we be ripped off with the HSV at probably 3x what the seppo's pay for what is basically the same car with a better engine!

Come on vauxhall bring in the SS!

Thats £12,800!

You can always import one! I must say that anything recent that I see with a Pontiac badge is a bit ugly. Also the pricing? G6 $25K at the moment for 250 bhp. The GTO is at $33k for 400hp. Maybe you would like the V6 for $25K?

I'll be extremely surprised if any new HSV brought in by Vauxhall is less than £40k.

The Chrysler 300C SRT8 will be it's natural rival and they are £39950 with a 3 month wait at the moment.

Hmm I was just going by this statement "Lutz: Commodore SS To Be New $25,000 Pontiac G8" which admittedly could be wrong.
However the SS is certainly the V8 model.

Personal import is definitely an option. Im sure my father wants an SS on his driveway for a while..

The engine is better because the heads flow way better than the LS2 heads. Like 10%+ better. And the intake manifold is also stated to flow better than the LS2 manifold. Flow data has been published on ls1tech.com. There was a recent thread where LG Motorsports did what was pretty much a cam only upgrade to this engine and got 490RWHP! That beats some of the intercooled supercharged guys in power!

Of course the suspension and brakes on the HSV are better, but Im not sure they are £27,000 better!

Umm, might have to seriously think about going shopping in the states.. BTW, there are different rules again for left had drive cars in regards to sva's.. yes you have to pay import duty, but hey, could work out rather well. Just have to de-pointiac it, which, well in all honesty would be doing to the vauxhall badging anyhow.

I think its a given that manufacturers charge pretty much what they feel the market will pay, not what its worth.

Yup, witness the recent £10k-ish knocked off new VXR's and Vauxhall et al must still be making some cash.

You're dead right there mate... how can the Poms whinge about the price of the VXR when they get it CHEAPER than we pay in Australia!!! Factor inb the "average wage", as I said in another thread, and we pay about 50% MORE for a GTO than they pay for the VXR.
