Trans Service indicator on dash
Discussion
I just arrived home from work out in California today, and after quick couple of hours shuteye took the Monaro out to the local shop to stock up the fridge...
While I've been gone she's been tucked away in the garage and hasn't moved for the best part of 2 weeks now, started first time and off to the shops I went (with -4oC showing on the outside temp display too, so I took things easy). Went inside, stocked up with the bags, came back out and threw them in the boot and jumped in...
...upon turning the key, all looked normal, then trans service appears on the dash, revs die and engine stops. Cue puzzled and panic-ridden face as this isn't the sort of neighbourhood I would leave the car for any longer than a quick run in for bits n bobs, so I turn the key again, exact same thing happens...so just to make sure I pull the key out, lock the doors, open again and reinsert key, turn and it fires up ok.
So questions time:-
1) What are the possible causes? Cold getting to a sensor? or something more serious?
2) Is this a warning or hazard state alarm, i.e. warning as in "hey bruce get me looked at soon please cobba", or "bloody hell sheila you're gonna wreck me", or do I just have a couple of goblins who've been staying under the lid in my absence and have now ran off into the cold, bleak distance...?
