The new HSV/VXR sedans.
Discussion
Firstly.... I sell HSV's in Western Australia, so to some this may seem like a sales pitch but it is not, just a comparision between the old and the new.
I have to tell you guys that you will be so excited when you finally get to drive the new VXR8, the new car makes the previous model look ancient.
I jumped out of a Signature Coupe into the new VE R8 about 2 weeks ago and it felt like going from a Barina to an F1 car.
In WA we are virtually sold out of GTS and Senator for the next 3 months and the R8 in auto is heading that way too. The public have taken to the car very well, we are even getting alot of "Euro" buyers looking, and buying, the new VE range.

Gday Mike, I've been hunting a Z R8 for a while, (researching, won't have the cash for a little while yet). Having a lot of trouble finding a manual, most for sale in Perth seem to be auto
Just curious, any idea of the split in new sales of the R8 man/auto? I've said before, I believe it shows that HSV in Perth is more a status symbol than bought for actual performance...
Also am I EVER likely to see a Z R8 manual WITH satnav on the market? Prolly have to wait another 10 years before satnav becomes a commonly ticked option here.
ETA, welcome to PH, good to see another Perthie here, I think there are only about 6 of us?

just a note of translation for the soap dodgers (
) among us who don't know...
Barina is Oz name for Corsa
Further.. don't know if I agree that buying an auto means they are not buying for performance? Maybe not enthusiastic enough to go track day racing but more a trend of Aussies in general - like the seppos Aussies seem lazy drivers in general & buy a lot of autos over manual. Not often I'll slate my own race but Aussies are crap drivers compared to UK; over here they are more a nation of drivers who appreciate driving & are good at it (always exceptions of course). The auto box on the HSV's is quick & I've been had by many an auto on the "traffic light drag strip" in the past!

The equation seems to be heading towards the auto by just a little. I think I would go an auto as a drive car, but they are all sold.

At the risk of repeating myself (ah what the hell, it's beer o'clock here
)
I think the term "Clubsport" in England is recognised as "suitable for club level motorsport". I will certainly be taking mine to Wanneroo and AHG for track days. In Perth, "Clubsport" means "The car I drive to the footie club"

Mike I may have mislead you into thinking I'm looking for new. Ashley looking for a low K used Z R8. VERY tempted to go East to pick one up... mate who I share the RX7 track toy with recently bought an Audi A6 in Adelaide for his wife, saved MANY thousands on purchase and !@#$%^ stamp duty...
ETA: colour; not all that fussed, don't want black, as I said I won't have the $ ready till I get a settlement with the ex...

I'm actually having an email convo with Garth Tander (asked his advice re HSVs generally) he is trying to convince me to get an E series... I REALLY don't want to buy new, let someone else take the worst sting, but don't want to wait for 2nd hand E's to come on the market.
ETA (seem to be doing that a lot
) Mike you can answer a q I asked before; I was originally wanting a Monaro, but prefer the spec of the R8. I'm wondering which will hold value better? (In your opinion). Also what Monaro has the same spec as a Z R8 (ie LS2, 4spot brakes...)? I don't think the GTO has the brakes?

Saloon may refer to:
Bar (establishment), especially in the American "Wild West."
A part of a British traditional pub. No longer present in most establishments.
In Britain and Ireland, an enclosed four-to-six seat car body style with a separate trunk, known in some other countries as a sedan.
The principal room of an 18th century mansion, the saloon is often at the centre of a suite of state rooms
The main cabin in a small boat or yacht, where the crew live, eat, and, depending on the size of the boat, may also sleep.
